Five years have passed since the 9/11 tragedy took place. Who can forget 11th Sep. 2001? The whole world viewed through TV in horror, the two gigantic buildings of World trade center and the building of pentagon burning in fire. Terrorists attacked the United States' World Trade Center and the building of Pentagon by using planes as guided missiles. Both of the 110-story buildings of World Trade Center collapsed within one hour, and many lives were lost. They could not use another plane as a terrorism weapon because of the intervention of the brave passengers.But it wasn't the last attack by the enemy. Since then the enemy has plotted and tried to carry out several attacks. But those attacks have been foiled because of tightened security. Spiritual life is also like this. Once you are saved and after coming out of your sins, it does not mean that you will start living a life free from the attacks of enemy. Enemy will try again and again with new plots and new tricks so that he could destroy your relationship with Lord Jesus Christ. He will try to destroy your lives bringing temptations to commit sin and to prompt you to choose and follow old habits so that you could not make it to heaven. That is the reason why Peter warned to believers in 1 Pet 5:8, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." If you are a saved person, you must be vigilant all the time so that devil could not get a chance to steal what God has given you. Jesus also said in Mark 14:38, "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." Every believer needs to tighten security of their lives so that they could be safe when the enemy attacks. Bible also tells us in Eph 6:16, "above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one."Only by being vigilant and alert everyday, you will be able to resist the attacks of the enemy. Tighten security of your life and never allow even a single crack in your life for the enemy to find access. Walk everyday with Jesus in holiness and He will protect you from all evil.
One day sitting in the couch I was flipping the channels and there was news "Jill Carroll, a freelance reporter of Christian Science Monitor is kidnapped by Iraqi insurgents". Sitting there thoughts flashed into my mind, “Is it the end of her life? Will she ever be a free person again?” I prayed for her release as I do usually when I see news of missing or kidnapped person on television.I heard the Lord saying, "She will be released". Well I continued observing the developments and praying for her. Then came the video and again I heard from the Lord saying, "she will be released soon". Well after few days as I was talking to my sisters I shared that this is what Lord has spoken and they said yea that is exactly what they have also heard from the Lord.Finally a day came when she was really released. All those days I wondered, “Is she a believer? Is she praying to the Lord? etc” and when I read her story at http://www.csmonitor.com/specials/carroll/index.html, I got the answer. She writes in Part 9 of her story that she was not religious and didn't pray first because she thought it will be hypocritical to pray when she is in trouble. But out of desperation finally she cried out to God. The very next episode of her story is about her release. God heard her prayers and intervened.All those days, God was waiting for her to ask Him. God being perfectly gentle, He cannot intervene into somebody's life unless they give permission to Him to intervene. World was praying for her and probably those prayers were the reason for her protection and the circumstances to shape up favorably, but God still needed the last permission to get her out of that situation.How many times we do not allow God to act in our lives thinking that God knows everything and if He wants to give let Him give by Himself. Jesus said, "Ask and it will be given to you".Mat 7:7 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”Mat 7:8 "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”Most of the time we don't get because we don't ask. There are numerous examples of people who asked God and they received from the Lord. One of the Example is Jabez.1 Chr 4:9 Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, "Because I bore him in pain."1 Chr 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, "Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!" So God granted him what he requested.The very meaning of the word "Jabez" was pain. He who was supposed to be pain or painful called unto God and He asked God saying, "Bless Me indeed". Yes God's blessings are most wonderful. When He blesses a person that is wonderful.Then he prayed, "Enlarge my territory". Today there is lot of debate among people, “should one ask for bigger house or not? Should one ask for better things or not?” and here is Jabez who asked for enlargement of territory and God granted his request. Further he prayed "Your hand would be with me". There is nothing in the world we do matters unless God's hand is in it. And Jabez knew very well that if he has to prosper and excel he needs God's hand to be with Him.Further he prayed "keep me from evil". Today many times we want to receive all the material blessings from the Lord but want to live our lives as we like. But Jabez wanted to live a clean and holy life. He asked for it from the Lord and it was granted to Him. Yes my brothers and sisters we can live a victorious holy life. The only thing is that we need to ask the Lord for it.Further he prayed, "that I may not cause pain". Her mother named him Jabez because she gave birth to him with great pain. He didn't want to be a pain any more and God granted it to him.Yes we can get all these things if we ask the Lord.In 2 Chr 15:3-4 Bible says that the Israelites sought the Lord and found Him.2 Chr 15:3 "For a long time Israel has been without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without law;2 Chr 15:4 "but when in their trouble they turned to the LORD God of Israel, and sought Him, He was found by them.Yes, God is not unreachable, but anybody who really seeks Him can find Him because He has made Himself available to us. We human beings who are sinful in nature cannot reach God by our own efforts but we can reach Him by turning to Him. Our good works that are like filthy rags before God cannot bring favor of God for us. That is the reason why Jesus came down searching for us so that He can save us from our sins and make us whiter than snow.Luke 19:10 "for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."We who are lost because of our sin, as we can not find God by our good works or by our own efforts, Jesus came down from heaven to give us freedom from sins and to give us eternal life.He not only came down from heaven but He also gave His life for us. He shed His precious blood for our sins. The fountain that flows from Calvary is capable of cleansing us from all our unrighteousness.Since Jesus has already sacrificed Himself on our behalf, we just need to seek Him and turn to Him to receive forgiveness of our sins. For John 1:12 says, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:"Yes "as many as received Him", these are the people who received forgiveness of sins. If you say, “God is a good God and he will just forgive me because of His great mercy and I have to do nothing about it”, believe me it's not going to work. You need to go to Him and tell Him that you need it then only He can move and give it to you. Those who ask receive and those who don't ask don't receive that's plain and simple.Would you like to ask to the Lord all that you need? Would you like to seek the Lord with all your heart? Then turn to Him and accept Him in your life. Invite Him to come into your heart. He will be glad to come into your heart and live in you. Do you want to live a clean and Holy life? Ask Him to cleanse you with His blood and He will gladly do it.To receive Him in your heart please pray this prayer from the bottom of your heart. Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I need a savior. Lord I believe that you died for my sins. And that you can save me from my sins. Please cleanse me with your blood and make me a new person. Please come into my heart and live inside me. You be the king of my life and help me live a holy life. I pray in Jesus Name. Amen.
Psa 121:6-7, "The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul."This is the promise for those who walk in the ways of God. God's protection would be for them all the time, day and night. My mom used to tell us that during her childhood many a times thieves came for burglary around her house and they successfully broke through in the next door houses and looted, but never could enter into her house. She always says that because grandma was a woman of prayer, God protected her house from the eyes of burglars. We ourselves experienced the same protection of God time and time again in our lives around our homes. We just moved to a place called Bhopal in India. There we lived in a newly constructed home where there was no window glasses but only iron bars. One night we heard continuous sound on the door as if it was moving because of great storm. I asked my sister, "what does this sound mean, because I think there is no storm outside." She replied, "yes there is no storm outside but I don't know why our door was moving so violently and creating such big noise?" As we woke up one by one and started talking, a few moments later the sound stopped. Then only we realized that someone was trying to brake through in our house. Few more days passed and one morning we woke up hearing sounds of many people talking loudly which was coming from our next door neighbor's yard. We came out to see what was going on and found out that our neighbor's house was burgled. They were young couple who had a one year old daughter. She woke up two times to feed her child but did not notice that the thief was in the same room. The second time when she came back from kitchen, she saw the thief running outside of her house. She screamed and her husband woke up. Both tried to get out of the house from backside to find help but they could not because the thieves had already locked the door from outside. Hearing their screams one family who lived at the backside tried to come out of their house but they also could not because their door was locked as well from outside. Meanwhile the thieves managed to take all their valuables and fled. Thieves did not stop after that one instance but, they kept on coming and trying again and again so that they could enter in our house too, but every time someone woke up from our sleep and they had to flee. It happened every time and God protected us every time. He has promised, "The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night...." His promises are yea and amen in Him. What He has spoken, He will do it. Are you a child of God? Have you given your life to Jesus, He will certainly protect you from all evil. He will not allow you to fall into the hands of enemy. If you are not a child of God, please pray this prayer with me:Dear God, I want to become your child. Please forgive and forget all my sins and make me whole. Today I invite you as my Lord and Savior. Please come into my life and give me the protection which I needed. Thank you Jesus for listening to my prayer. I pray in Jesus name Amen.

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month.
