Today scientists are trying to find whether there is water in moon and in other celestial bodies. About a month ago or so they tried to hit the surface of moon with great force and by collecting the dust, rocks and particles of that explosion for studying. By doing this they tried to find out whether there is water in the moon or not. A few years ago they sent rover in mars to look at the surface of mars to find whether there is water or not in mars.

Well, I will not be surprised if scientists discover water in any of those places. Because the Bible tells us in Gen 1:6-8 Then God said, "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters." Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day."

Bible tells us in Genesis 1:1 & 2 that there was water on the earth. Later God divided the waters and in the midst of the waters He created the firmament. God called the firmament Heaven and the waters which were under the firmament were further gathered together in one place and dry land appeared. And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas.

So we see that Bible describes about the waters under the firmament (heaven) but we do not read what happened to the waters above the firmament (heaven). But we read in Psa 148:2-5 that there are waters above the heavens. The psalmist says, "Praise Him, all His angels; Praise Him, all His hosts! Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all you stars of light! Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, And you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the LORD, For He commanded and they were created."

These things which are written in the Bible are not written by any scientist but by ordinary people who had no scientific knowledge. Many of the things written in the Bible have been proven correct and modern science could not prove the Bible wrong.

Yes, there is a mighty God who created this world with His wisdom. Though He is such a mighty and powerful God still He loves us so much that He came down in this world to die for us. He shed His precious blood on the cruel cross to purchase pardon of our sins. Today, we can receive forgiveness of our sins by the shed blood of Jesus. If we come to Him and give our lives to Him, He is ready to forgive and forget all our sins and ready to give us not only a new life but also everlasting life that never fades away. And He will wipe away all our tears and fill us with unending joy and peace.

He wants to give us that wonderful life and He wants to take us to heaven if we just give our lives to Him.

Is prosperity sin? -Part 2

By Sheela Isaac

Last time we have seen from the Bible how poverty comes into our lives. Today we are going to see more about it.

Poverty comes because of rebellion against God and idolatry:

In Jeremiah we find that God was angry with the Israelites and Judah because they had rejected God and walked away from Him. They worshipped idols and other gods and provoked God who created them. Bible tells clearly that He is the only God who is the only creator and that He is the one who should get all the honor and glory.

Jeremiah 2:4, "Hear the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob and all the families of the house of Israel.
Jer 2:5 Thus says the LORD: "What injustice have your fathers found in Me, That they have gone far from Me, Have followed idols, And have become idolaters?
Jer 2:8 The priests did not say, 'Where is the LORD?' And those who handle the law did not know Me; The rulers also transgressed against Me; The prophets prophesied by Baal, And walked after things that do not profit.
Jer 2:9 "Therefore I will yet bring charges against you," says the LORD, "And against your children's children I will bring charges.

God was angry with the Israelites who fell in idol worship and forsook Him, God was angry with them. When they left their own creator and walked away, God brought desolation and destruction in their lives. Jeremiah 2:11-13, "Has a nation changed its gods, Which are not gods? But My people have changed their Glory For what does not profit. Be astonished, O heavens, at this, And be horribly afraid; Be very desolate," says the LORD. "For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns; broken cisterns that can hold no water."

When a person walks away from God, poverty and famine comes.
Deu 11:16-17, "Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them, "lest the Lord's anger be aroused against you, and He shut up the heavens so that there be no rain, and the land yield no produce, and you perish quickly from the good land which the LORD is giving you.

You might not be an idol worshiper and yet you could provoke God. How? If you live in sin and don't think of repenting from your sinful life and turning to God it could provoke God. Bible clearly differentiates two groups of people. One group is called "godly" and other is "ungodly" one is called "sinners" and the other is called "righteous". Those who love Jesus and have repented from their sin and accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior are called "Children of God." God has promised all kinds of blessings for this group of people. But the other group is called "wicked people or ungodly". The people who love pleasures of this world and follow not the commandments of God and are not saved comes in this group. Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; Psa 1:5 -16, "Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish."

God has promised prosperity for His children:
Jeremiah 2:7 I brought you into a bountiful country, To eat its fruit and its goodness. But when you entered, you defiled My land And made My heritage an abomination.

He had promised prosperity with the one condition that they should follow Him all the days of their lives and be faithful to God who created them. He brought the children of Israel with good intention to the prosperous land. Our God wants to give us the good of everything. The God of the Bible is not the God of poverty but of prosperity.

Deuteronomy 8:6-10, "Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him. "For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; "a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; "a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper. "When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land which He has given you."

It is the will of God that His children prosper and receive all the blessings. Poverty does not come from God but it comes when we forsake God and fulfill our own will, that is, do things which does not please God. In other words poverty comes from Satan.

Deuteronomy 8:19 "Then it shall be, if you by any means forget the LORD your God, and follow other gods, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish.

God wants to give us a prosperous life. Bible says that when God adds riches He does not add sorrow with it. Proverb 10:22 The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it." Working in different jobs in two three shifts and thus earning is not prosperity but it is hard labor. If you are working and working all the time and not able to enjoy, then it's not prosperity. But God wants to bring you to the place where you can have money and have plenty of time to take rest and to enjoy the money you have earned. I remember when we were in India my brother wanted to pursue his career in Electronics. He loved making Electronic gadgets and he made some fun-filled but useful gadgets. In our house water was being supplied only once in a day and that only for a short time. Water will be filling in a tank at the ground floor. We had to pump the water from this tank to the overhead tank. For this we had to stay alert all the time because there was no specific time when the tap water would come. My brother made a gadget and with this gadget water pumping became automatic. Every time when ground floor tank was full and water was about to spill, the pump would automatically start and when the overhead tank is full it would automatically shut off. It was a nice gadget because of which life became easier. My brother wanted to pursue this career but one day the Lord told him to go in the computer field. My brother did not like it, but whatever work he did except in the computer field continued to fail. One day he brought a computer programming book from the library to see what was in that, and as he read it he was hooked up and he did 2-3 short computer courses of a fortnight or one month. Then he began to learn programming by himself and mastered it in a very short time. After that he tried to look for some job in the computer field but nobody would hire him and when somebody wanted to hire him they offered much less salary. He was really disappointed because of it and the Lord said to him to start a business. He thought, "who is going to give me projects? But he started the business because the Lord told him.

He never went in search of projects but they came by themselves. That's what happens when the Lord gives some ideas. My brother had many friends who were in the computer field and whenever they faced hardware or software problems they came to my brother and he always solved them free of charge. Slowly the same friends brought projects and whatever works which were pretty hard for them and which they could not handle came to my brother. My brother earned seven to eight thousand rupees per month just sitting in the home. After every two - three months he would have enough money for vacation and he would take us all for vacation and we had visited many places. How correct it is when God brings riches, He adds no sorrow with it. When we look to Jesus He not only shows the right path but also gives better ideas and these ideas bring great success without doing hard labor.

I read one more real incidence which happened in the life of a servant of God Kathy walters. One day God said to her to move to another place for ministry. At that time she didn't know how to sell her house because it was pretty hard. One day Lord said to her to buy $200 worth of bright flower plants and to plant them in the front garden and put the "home for sale by owner" sign. She did that, and in a few weeks later, a phone call came saying that they wanted to see her house. When they arrived the woman said, "we had no plan to buy a house in this area but every time when we passed through this place beautiful flowers at your yard caught our attention. Then they bought this house. The ideas which God brings are great and if you are hearing from God your hard problems will be solved in no time.

Jesus wants to bring prosperity in our lives. Are you going through poverty? Look to Jesus and He will change your situation. He will give you better ideas how to prosper and to see blessings in your life.

Hope for the Hopeless - Part 9

By Sherly Isaac

In the book of John 21st chapter we read about an incident which happened after the death of Jesus. When Jesus was crucified and when Jesus was buried, all the hopes and all the expectations of His disciples were also buried with Him as well. I think that this was the time which was very difficult for His disciples who had walked with Him and lived with Him in His short ministry in this world. This was the time when they faced entirely unexpected thing. There hearts were shattered to pieces and they lost all their hopes. Not only that but they were frightened thinking, "will Romans come and drag us away just as they did to Jesus?" What would be their future? they did not know. Uncertain future was looming before them.

And in John 21:3, Peter expressed his desperation when he literally thought that everything was over for him and says, "I am going fishing." Then other disciples said to him, "We are going with you also." They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.

So they had gone back to the very point from where Jesus called them into the ministry. But that was not a lucky day for them. They caught nothing!

Oh, have you ever felt desperation as Peter and the other disciples had gone through in their lives? On the one side their leader was dead and on the other side they could not catch a single fish. They were fishermen from their childhood and they needed not to be told how to catch fishes. They were expert in their field. But at that moment they were completely out of luck.

At times we reach to the point where Peter and other disciples were - desperate, hopeless and in a completely helpless situation. But in such moments of despair there is a God who comes for our rescue.

Peter and the disciples of Jesus worked very hard and could not find a single fish. They were hungry, they were tired and they did not know what to do. In those moments of despair and heartbreak, Jesus stood on the shore and asked them, "Children, have you any food?" And their answer was "No". Then Jesus told them to cast the net on the right side of the boat and that they will find some. They did so and now they were not able to draw the net because of the multitude of fish. But the other disciples came in little boats (for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits), who helped to drag the net with fish.

And to their surprise as soon as they came to the land they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread. Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish which you have just caught." Jesus said to them, "Come and eat breakfast." Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, "Who are You?"--knowing that it was Lord. Jesus He came and took the bread and gave to them, and likewise the fish.

This is a story of God's love for the broken humanity. Those disciples were beaten down, heart broken, having nothing to eat and their whole night's toil of no avail. But Jesus not only showed a solution to catch fishes but also prepared breakfast for them and kept ready when they arrived at the land. This is the love of God. When you cry, He does not sit in heaven and enjoy but He comes down and helps to come out of our terrible situation in which we are. He is ready to wipe away our tears.

Have you lost everything in your life? Are you in a situation where there is no hope for you? Come to Jesus, He will fill you with new hope.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
