After reading my last week's editorial one person wrote like this, "Is this CSI news letter or some US propaganda magazine?... Very sad to see a Church news letter in this way."It was new and shocking news for me that Church newsletter should not contain tales of hurting humanity. Later he said that, "why I go on speaking about America and Israel, why not the sufferings of Palestine, Iraq and India?" Let me start with Palestine. Palestinians are in this condition today; it is their own creation. Mr. Arafat encouraged them to participate in Jihad. Even they gave training to small children for killing Israelites. When American World Trade Center buildings were attacked, those who celebrated, danced and gave sweets to each other were Palestinians. Pakistan and other Muslim countries also joined in celebration as if killing of innocent people was a matter of great joy. Arafat could have stopped this but he did not take action against terrorists. In the last two days many were killed or wounded when suicide bombers attacked in Israel. Many believe that it is because of Israeli occupation but reason is somewhat different. Quran says about those who kill people in the name of Jihad will be admitted in heaven directly. And this thought is deceiving many. Bible says why God drove people out of their land and punished them as we read in Lev 18:28, "lest the land vomit you out also when you defile it, as it vomited out the nations that were before you. For whoever commits any of these abominations, the persons who commit them shall be cut off from among their people." Palestinians are suffering because they are killing innocent people. They shed innocent blood and defiled the land. Iraq has the same story. One decade ago Iraq attacked Kuwait but American intervention saved the lives of Kuwaitis. Saddam Hussein has emerged as dictator and a great threat to the world.And what about India? India has seen the worst persecution against Christians and minorities in last few years. Many Christians were killed, their hands and legs were chopped off, they were made naked, they were made to walk in the streets without having any cloth on them, they made them drink urine and even they did not spare women. Yes, Christians were in a position where no one could help them but when they cried out to God, God came to their rescue. In Jan 2001, Hindu activists told Christians, either renounce your God and your religion or get ready to be killed. They gave three days notice. But 500 pastors gathered in a hotel to fast and pray for three days for their deliverance. On the last day of their fasting, a great earthquake came in Gujarat, India. The hotel where Pastors were fasting and praying got demolished but the floor where the pastors were, it came down like Elivator(lift) and all the pastors could come out of the building unhurt. As soon as they came out of the building the rest of the building also collapsed. Few months back Hindu-Muslim riots took place in India. Hindus had computerized list of Muslim's address and details of how many members were in their home. They went to each home, put them on fire and burnt Muslims alive, counting every member. Why we see all kinds of misery and pain in India? The only reason is because they have rejected the almighty God and worshipped idols. Why India is suffering today? Because Prime Minister of India allowed all kinds of terrorism and killing in India. Many appeals could not change the mind of Mr. Bajpayee or BJP or VHP people. Yes, as long as we will allow wrong things, as long as we will reject the almighty God and our creator Jesus Christ, we will see misery and pain in our lives. But if we repent and humble ourselves before God, He is ready to forgive and forget our sins. And He is ready to change our misery and pain.
Pastor Paul Ciniraj Mohammed a Muslim convert to Christianity is working among Muslims and Hindus in South India. His faith in Christ has led him to so many persecutions but God protected him and his family from the terrible tragedy. Here is the thrilling miracle which took place in his life just last week.On 7th Sep. 2002 he got an email saying, "BELIEVE ALLAH IS ONE; MUHAMMED (pbuh) IS HIS MATCHLESS PROPHET. Siniraj Muhammed, You're against the religion of peace. You propagate vulgar mission. You are not only a "Kafir", but an enemy of the truth. Be careful. You're going to loose your loved ones. And you'll live without having legs and arms as a sign for those who destroy the true religion."Pastor Paul contacted us and few other believers for immediate prayer. Despite of all the prayers, things went wrong and all his three kids were hospitalized. On 9th Sep. 2002, he wrote, "My children, Besly (elder son, 13 years old), Hepzy (daughter, 12 years old), and Lesly (younger son, 8 years old) came back from the school with a severe vomiting. They are admitted in the hospital. Doctors think some food adulteration. The children are very weak and tired, so we did not ask what exactly happened. Kindly pray for them.THOUGH HE SLAY ME, YET WILL I TRUST IN HIM; BUT I WILL MAINTAIN MY OWN WAYS BEFORE HIM" (Job 13:15)"Later that day they found out that on the way to school Besly, Hepzy and Lesly were given poison by a woman. He wrote like this in his eMail, "Thank you so much for your sincere and tearful prayers for my children Besly, Hepzy and Lesly. By God's grace they are getting better. They came out from the observation room. The whole night we were asleep, knelt down before the Lord and waiting at the hospital. The Holy Spirit strengthen me and my wife with a wonderful power, and we're quiet sure that came through your prayers. My children were coming back to home from the school by a public transport bus. They use to come and go by bus only. The bus was thick with travelers and other students. A middle-aged woman was sitting on a seat. As soon as she saw my children, she smiled at them, called them by name and made arrangements to sit the youngest one at her bosom and other two beside her. On the way she enquired about our family as a well-wisher. She said to the children that she is one of the prayer partners of our mission; we (Mercy and myself along with the children) went and stayed with her family some time ago and she always praying for us. My children don't remember they met her before. When the children were out of time to getting down from the bus she supplied them chocolates as a token of love. She herself took out the rapper and forced them to eat. My children are very fond of chocolates. They were happy to get it. As soon as they got down from the bus, younger one began to vomit, suddenly the elder one too then the daughter. They lost their chocolates when they vomited. Somebody went on the way saw this and they brought them home soon. By the time the younger son fainted. We were afraid. But prayed to God and took them to the hospital. Doctors found poison in their saliva and gave the exact treatment in time. If we were late two or three minutes..... ? Praise God. He protected us mightily as the apple of His eyes. He answered our prayers. Thank you again for your prayers. Now they are OK. They are God's children. LET HIM DO WHAT HE WANTS. We searched for that woman. But nobody knows her. We reported to the police. I don't think the hospital is safe. And I don't know what to do next. Please pray that God Himself take care of us according His will. I again request you this time to pray for me and my family as well as our pastors and evangelists who are ministering with us and their families, the new believers and the seekers. EVERYBODY NEEDS YOUR PRAYERS VERY BADLY."Next day on 10th Sep. 2002 we got very disturbing email from Pastor Paul Ciniraj saying his daughter Hepzy is in critical condition. He wrote in his email that, "Please pray for my daughter HEPZY. At the daytime she was all right. She is having a sudden change after the evening. She is unable to breathe properly. She wants to talk; but cannot. She is loosing her memory power. According to the doctors, poison might have affected her lungs.Please...please...please pray for my daughter. Our Lord will not make His children ashamed before the scoffers and heathens. He is the Lord of miracles. By His stripes we have healing. Let His precious blood being poured on her lungs. Let His nailed hands being touched her whole body. May our Lord forgive the one who did this. By God's grace both boys are OK. My wife is upset. Pray for me too, that God may strengthen me to suffer anything. LET HIS WILL BE DONE."Hapzy's condition worsened and she went into coma. But the almighty God looked at the tears of His people and did mighty miracle in the life of Hapzy. On the same day while we were on family prayer, God's mighty power came upon us and He told us that, "When you will pray for people, instant miracles will take place." We claimed the promise of God and asked for a miracle. My brother also replied him back quoting, Psalms 34:19, "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all."On 11th Sep. 2002, Pastor Paul wrote again sharing the mighty miracle which took place in his life. He wrote, "My 12 year old daughter Hepzy was unconscious about 30 hours. Myself, my wife Mercy, our boys Besly and Lesly knelt down before our Lord around her bed and was praying with full of tears. My sons had been recovered; and were with us at the same room. We were sure that hundreds of the children of God like you were praying for Hepzy with tears at that time..When we were praying we saw Hepzy's face became very bright. Though her eyes were closed, but she smiled with full of Joy. Quickly she lifted her hands up and was trying to catch something. We assured she is departing from us. My wife and children cried aloud. I tried to control; but couldn't. Doctors and nurses who were on duty rushed into the room hearing our cries. Doctor was attempting to check her pulse. But before he was checking the pulse Hepzy got up automatically from the bed. Her hands were up and we clearly felt that she was holding something in the space. She was calling "YESHU APPACHAA...., YESHU APPACHAA...." in our mother tongue. (Yeshu=Jesus; Appacha=Abba). Then she opened her eyes. She looked into her hands with an amazement, then looked up to the space, again to the hands and fingering a point, said: "AVIDE YESHU APPACHAN!" (there is Abba Jesus). I hold her hands and called her by name. Without any problem she recognized all of us. She realized that she is in the hospital. It was about 1 O'clock at midnight.She wanted to eat something. So doctor checked her thoroughly and asked us to feed her something light. She is having little temperature. Doctor prescribed a tablet and she had it. Before she went to the bed we praised our Lord together. Hepzy praised the Lord and prayed with a new power.. PRAISE THE LORD! OUR GOD IS THE LORD OF MIRACLES! LIVING GOD! MIGHTY SAVIOUR!Now Hepzy is taking rest. Mercy, Besly and Lesly are with her. I came home to convey this miraculous news of our Mighty Lord answered the prayers of precious and spirit filled children of God like yourself for Hepzy and gave her life back for His glorification. Please pray that our Lord may make use of her as His witness to win many unto His fold..No! I will never turn back from the Lord. At any cost winning the Muslim world and the third world unto the Salvation of Jesus is my ultimate aim.. The death may embrace me. Doesn't matter! For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain..Once again thank you for your valuable prayers and timely sending the messages of encouragement. Ezek 18:32 "For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies," says the Lord GOD. "Therefore turn and live!"Most of the time when you talk about God's judgment, there is an immediate reaction that God is a God of love. He will not judge. Israel had the same problem, around the time of Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Amos, and Daniel etc. God was trying to communicate through these prophets but people would not listen.God was trying to speak to Israel through Jeremiah. He was trying to point out their sins, but they will not listen.Jeremiah 2:13 "For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns; broken cisterns that can hold no water.Because of Israel's sins, Israelites were going through big trouble and God was trying to make Israel understand that it is all because they have tried to find confidence, stability, and prosperity in the wrong place. He asks Jeremiah to tell them how much He loves them and is waiting for them to turn from their evil ways.Jeremiah 3:12-13 "Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say: 'Return, backsliding Israel,' says the LORD; 'I will not cause My anger to fall on you. For I am merciful,' says the LORD; 'I will not remain angry forever. Only acknowledge your iniquity, That you have transgressed against the LORD your God, And have scattered your charms To alien deities under every green tree, And you have not obeyed My voice,' says the LORD."But Israel would not turn. Reason was simple. They didn't have any fear of the Lord. They sinned and they kept on sinning. They heaped up sins after sins. They forsook the Lord and went to worship idols. They sought foreign gods. They forgot that living water comes only from the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Because He alone is the fountain of living water. When God tried to call them back, they instead of turning from their sins, persecuted Jeremiah. They put him in prison. Are people today any different from them? No, they try to filter Bible according to their own needs. They are not willing to listen to the Lord. But He is still calling and saying "For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies," says the Lord GOD. "Therefore turn and live!"Yes, people are automatically going toward death because Bible says in Rom 3:23 "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," also Rom 6:23 says "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Without your knowledge you are already effortlessly earning death by not walking in the ways of the Lord. God does not rejoice in your death but He is calling. What He is saying is only to turn to Him and ask for forgiveness. He is saying that 1. Only acknowledge your iniquity 2. That you have transgressed against the LORD your God3. And have scattered your charms To alien deities under every green tree4. And you have not obeyed My voice5. And return. Again in Ezekiel 18:30,31 He is saying that He is going to judge according to the way Israel walked. God is making very clear that it is their iniquity that is going to bring ruin on them, and He is asking them to repent and turn.Ezek 18:30 "Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways," says the Lord GOD. "Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin.Ezek 18:31 "Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel?He calls them to repent from all their transgressions. He asks them to cast away all their transgressions. That means not to go back into it again. He is also offering a new heart and a new spirit so that they should not die.Are you living in sin today? Lord is calling you to repent. He is ready to give you a new heart and new spirit. Only thing you have to do is repent of your sins and accept the work done by the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. Just tell Him that you are a sinner (acknowledge your sins) also tell Him that He is able to forgive and take away your sins (put faith on Him) Ask Him to cleanse you with His precious blood that He shed on the cross (for blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sins) and invite Him to come into your heart. He will gladly do that because He doesn't want you to die.If you want to turn your life over to Jesus pray this prayer from the bottom of your heart. Lord Jesus I confess that I have sinned against you. I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I know you can cleanse me and forgive me. Please forgive me of my sins. Please cleanse me with your blood. Lord Jesus please come into my heart and make me a new person. I ask all these things in Jesus name. Amen.
Till this time you have read that, Gulshan Fatima was paralyzed at her left side when she was only 6 months old. Her mother died when she was an infant. Her father loved her so much that he took her to England for treatment but when they heard the disappointing words of doctor, "it has no cure", their hearts broke down. Her father encouraged her and said, "We will go to Mecca and knock the door of Allah, and he will heal you." So they went to Mecca and visited Ka'aba - the house of Allah. Even she kissed the cubical shape of ka'aba but to their utter despair nothing happened. To avoid her father's troubled look, she kept her face down. Then they visited Safa and Marva from where they bought Zamzam water. She bathed with that water but nothing happened. She and her father returned home heart broken. Next blow for her was, her beloved father's death!*******She woke up in the morning 3 o'clock as usual and started thinking, "it is wrong that I am alive like a useless cripple but he is gone." Then she thought, "God, I cannot live like this anymore, may be 30 more years. Please take me to father." Then she thought, "Why God is so far away and why so silent? Perhaps my forefathers have committed numerous sins and because of it God is not answering me." Perhaps God wants to see more patience in her, but how much more patience God needed from her? She thought that if God does not help her, she would have to find some method to kill herself. She thought about hanging herself which was nearly impossible with her one hand. Then about poison, she had no idea that from where it can be obtained. She also thought about knife and scissors but they were beyond her reach and in locker. As she was thinking other thoughts came into her mind that, "you will never be with your father and mother in paradise, if you commit suicide." As a Sayed she had automatic entry in heaven though she may fail in duties toward Allah and five pillars of Islam. But taking her own life will cancel this privilege. Oh, her heart was filled with hopelessness and great despair. She felt as if someone has squeezed her heart and tears streamed down on her face. In her great helplessness, she started talking to God, not like Muslims do with their set prayers and books but her heart cried out to God for a solution. Her words came out of her heart as she was talking to someone who knows all about her, her need and her situation. She told, "I want to die.... I do not want to live anymore, this is the bottom line." But to her surprise her cry being heard by someone. She felt as a great peace filling her soul and veil is lifted. She started praying with more boldness and said, "What was my crime that you made me a cripple? As soon as I was born, my mother was taken away from me now my father... why I got punished so severely? She sobbed out saying these things. The silence was so deep that she could hear her heart beats. Suddenly she heard a low, gentle voice out of the blue in her own language, "I won't let you die, I will keep you alive."What's the point of keeping me alive, she inquired? She said, "I am a cripple and when my father was alive I could share everything with him, now he is dead and every moment of my life is like 100 years. By taking my father you left me hopeless. I have no interest to live in this world now"She heard the low voice again saying to her, "Who gave eyes to the blind, and who made the sick whole, and who healed the lepers and who raised the dead?" I am Jesus, Son of Mary. Read about me in the Quran, in the Sura Maryam (Chapter 19)."She had no idea how long these talks went on, whether 5 minutes or half an hour but she woke up hearing the Morning Prayer call from the mosque. Later that day she visited the grave of her father with her sister and other family members and convinced that she was dreaming a dream. They had 40 days mourning period for father in which many people from far and near, humble and wealthy visited their home to pay respect to her dead father. During these days no food would be cooked in home and brothers would neglect their works and they spend all the time thinking and talking about the dead person. After returning from the graveyard some strange things happened. One of the maids screamed and pointed toward a chair, saying, "I saw him sitting in this chair." And Gulshan wondered, why she would see him? Aunt came to her room to massage her head because she had a painful headache because of crying so much. "Your Uncle and me will look after you as your father and mother, aunt said." When aunt left the room she recalled the voice she heard about Sura Maryam and tried to read in her Arabic Quran but it was difficult to understand fully. "Why not read in my own tongue", she thought?She sent a note through Salima saying, "Please give the bearer the best available Urdu translation of Quran." She also told Salima to take money from Aunty and go to bookshop and ask for the best version of the Quran published by Taj Company. Salima went and two hours later she returned with the book wrapped in newspaper. At night when everyone slept, she took the Urdu Quran in her hands and unwrapped the green silk cover. She longed to hear the same voice to assure her about the way of healing and new hope. Her heart was full of sadness but filled with curiosity as she was holding the book. She said Bismillah and opened the book and started reading. The Angel said to Mary, "Allah bids you rejoice in a Word from Him. He shall be noble in this world, and in the next, and shall be favored by Allah. He shall preach to men in his cradle and in the prime of manhood, and shall lead a righteous life...."On the third day, Safdar Shah, her elder brother became Pir(religious leader) and head of the family. At the end of mourning period they raised the stone on her father's grave and everyone was invited for the mourning feast. Before returning to Lahore, Safdar Shah came to Gulshan's room. He was holding the papers of her property. He asked her to go with him and live in his home at Lahore. But she did not want to leave her home and also she wanted to learn more about prophet and healer, Jesus so she refused to go with him. Safdar Shah told OK and he arranged to put money in bank account of Gulshan and Gulshan will sign the check for household needs and Safdar Shah will visit twice a month to see accounts.One by one all left leaving Gulshan alone without a friend or close companion. But aunt used to come and sit with her and talk...To be continued..........
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month.
