Mat 10:16, "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves."

In this verse Jesus says that He is sending His disciples as sheep among wolves. We all know how helpless a sheep will be in front of a wolf. If a wolf finds a sheep, it will surely devour the sheep because it is a choice prey for it. Further wolf is a vicious predator. But still Jesus sends them as sheep. Why? Because sheep is considered as the most innocent animal and God wants us to stay innocent and remain holy even while walking among the vicious and harmful people.

Bible says about the coming Messiah in Isaiah 53:7, "He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth." At the time of the worst trial, betrayal and crucifixion, Jesus showed the perfect example of His meekness. Though cruel and most vicious people handled Him, still He did not open His mouth or cursed them nor did He say any thing bad to them but kept silent. Even on those terrible moments He prayed for them, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do."

The other quality of a sheep is that, it hears the voice of the shepherd and walks with him. God wants us to hear His voice and obey Him, who is the shepherd who wants to lead us along the right path.

Jesus further said, "be wise as serpents and harmless as doves." Yes, devil always plays tricks with believers and tries to entangle them in sin and to devour their souls. In order to discern which one is the trick of devil and which one is not, you should be wise as a serpent so that you could escape from the snares of the devil. Many a times people fall into the clutches of the devourer because they do not have sufficient Bible knowledge. If anything does not line up with the word of God, then it is not from God. Many have fallen and many have gone astray and lost their way because they believed in what others said.

Yesterday, police rescued the fifteen year old missing girl from her abductor and his wife. Elizabeth Smart was kidnapped at gunpoint from her home about nine months back. Her kidnapper called himself as a prophet. Some think that God led him in his actions. And other reports say, "he thinks that he is higher than God." Well, a person could easily realise that this line of action taken by the abductor cannot be from God. Because God will never tell anybody to do a wrong thing and the second thing is, kidnapping is sin in the sight of God. Old testament has prescribed death penalty for this sin. We read in Deuteronomy 24:7, "If a man is found kidnapping any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and mistreats him or sells him, then that kidnapper shall die; and you shall put away the evil from among you."

Bible also says in 1 Tim 1:9-11, "knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was committed to my trust."

That's why today our Churches need to be very cautious about every person with whom they deal with. If anybody asserts and say, "such and such thing is from God." and if that thing does not line up with the doctrines of the Bible then it is not from God. Apostle Paul says in Galatians 1:8-9, "But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed."

Yes, my friend, examine and test every message spoken by people whether it is lining up with Bible or not. Stay away from those who speak wrong doctrines.

Messiah - The King

By Sherly Isaac

1 Timothy 6:15, "which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords."

Jews believe that Jesus was not the Messiah who was about to come in this world and deliver His people because He was not the King. But there are many references in the New Testament and Old Testament that clearly tells us that Jesus was and is the King. Bible says in Revelation 17:14, "These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful." And also in Revelation 19:16, "And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS."

Not only did His disciples declare Him as King of kings and Lord of lords but also Magi who had nothing to do with Christ or Christianity declared Him as King. Magi or Magus word is used for sorcerer or magicians. Three Magis or wise men came to see Jesus and when they came, they told Herod the King in Mat 2:2 saying, "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him."

When Herod heard this, he was baffled and he gathered all the chief priest and scribes and inquired about the Christ or Messiah as to where He was to be born? So they said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet: 'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel'" (Mat 2:5-6). That incident resulted in the killing of many infants who were under two years of age.

Jesus Himself said when the governor asked Him in Matthew 27:11, "Are You the King of the Jews?" So Jesus said to him, "It is as you say."

Not only this, but also Old Testament prophecies tell us that the Messiah who was about to come would be the King.

Balaam prophesied in Numbers 24:17, "I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Scepter shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth."

Bible also tells us that God is the King and King of kings. Bible says in Psalms 47:7, "For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding."And also in Psalms 95:3, "For the LORD is the great God, And the great King above all gods."

God always loved to deliver His people and be their leader and King over them. When the Israelites asked for a king it did not please God. In 1 Sam 10:18-19 we read, "Thus says the LORD God of Israel: 'I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of all kingdoms and from those who oppressed you. But you have today rejected your God, who Himself saved you from all your adversities and your tribulations; and you have said to Him, 'No, set a king over us!' Now therefore, present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes and by your clans."

Today God wants to come into our lives and wants to become our King and our Lord. How many times we reject the King of kings without giving Him due importance. But how patient He is who says in Revelation 3:20-22 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."'

Just by inviting Him in our lives, He will come in and not only dine with us, but make us sit with Him and Father on His throne. What a privilege to sit with the King of kings. What an honor to sit with the King of kings on His throne! If you have not yet invited Jesus in your life, ask Him to come in and He will gladly do it.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
