EDITORIAL
Who went before us and left the trace behind to follow the footsteps. Yes, we see in the life of Sadhu Sunder Singh who came from an orthodox sikh (Punjabi, Indian) family dedicated his life for Christ, suffered much for Christ and worked day and night, walked bare foot miles to reach the unreached people and known as Bleeding Feet Apostle. Here is the testimony of Sadhu Sunder Singh.

Sadhu Sunder Singh was born in a house of rich landlord in Patiyala(India) on 3 Sep. 1889. His mother always said to him "We have to search the peace of mind, if we find it, it is the greatest thing we can achieve in this world." So a great desire came in his heart to find peace. He started meditating the devotional books. As much as he went through it he found loosing his peace. He asked questions to his mother and other religious leaders but no body could satisfy him. At that time he was sent to study in village mission school where every day they teach from Bible. When he heard about this new religion and when he heard that he has to read the Bible very first day, he got angry. But he could not break the law of school because he had to take one Bible with him. When he started reading Bible he realized that it is different from other religious books. So he became very much upset that he stood against Christians. He torn the pages after pages of Bible and put into ashes. Finally when he could not find any peace he started thinking may be I can find peace in that book which I hated and torn earlier. Then he started reading Bible and suddenly his eyes fell on this verse, Matthew 11:28 "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." When he read this verse he was amazed.. One day he decided to find peace and said in his heart either I will get peace in this world before morning 5 O'clock or going to die jumping before the train that comes at morning 5 O'clock. Early in the morning he felt something like clouds filling in his room and in the midst of the white clouds he saw Jesus. When he saw Jesus his heart filled with peace unspeakable. But this was the starting point of suffering for Sadhu Sunder Singh. His own father and relatives became his enemies. His father tried to convince him by giving money, property etc. but in vain. When one day Sadhu Sunder Singh saw tears in his father's eyes his heart broke down but he remembered the vision of Jesus that he saw earlier and also the peace that he found. Sadhu Sunder Singh's uncle came one day and took him to his house and when they reached at basement he locked the door. Sadhu Sunder Singh thought it is last moment of his life. His uncle opened a box and showed him that was filled with gold ornaments, money and valuable things and said to him, "Please do not let us down being a Christian." And he put his turban on his feet and said, "If you will stay in our religion I will give all these things to you." When Sadhu Sunder Singh saw his uncle's turban on his feet he could not resist himself and tears rolled down his cheeks but suddenly he remembered the vision and he decided to stand firmly for Christ. When Sadhu Sunder Singh returned to his house his father said you are not my son. When relatives of Sadhu Sunder Singh saw that he was firm in his decision they started teasing him. Finally his father said that he cannot live in the house and gave orders that he should leave the house by morning. So with a broken heart he left the house by early morning and went to Ropad where some believers lived. When he reached at Ropad he fell sick and when Doctor examined him they found that Sadhu Sunder Singh was given poison with some food because his relative never wanted him to live as a Christian. Doctor said that he could not live more than 3 or 4 hours. Sadhu Sunder Singh was very sick and started omitting blood. Everybody left their hope but Sadhu Sunder Singh was confident that he is going to live because Jesus pulled him out of darkness not to die but to live and testify about Jesus. In the morning when the Doctor saw Sadhu Sunder Singh alive he could not believe his eyes. Yes he lived many more years in this world and worked among those people who never heard the Gospel. Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 9th Sep. 2008
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 9th Sep. 2008
