EDITORIAL

The other day I opened my hotmail account and found there was no new mails. I was surprised, how come there was no mail for me from last 1 week? I thought, "may be my mailbox is full so it is not showing any new mails and I deleted some of my old mails(which were first in sequence). Suddenly my eyes fell on the date column and I was shocked to see... the date was 1900 instead of 1999. Before I could notice, the damage was already done... I deleted some of my new mails thinking that it was old. Then I remembered there is going to be a problem in computers called Y2K (Year 2000 bug). Computer reads only last two digits of a year instead of four digits, might mistake the year 2000, or ``00,'' as 1900. Wow great...
Some months back I read in news paper that one 104 years old lady at Wisconsin(USA) got a letter from school board that she should join pre school... hey, do not laugh, the days are coming when your age will be in minus... are not you feeling good, hearing that...

Last month when power outages took place in Chicago downtown and other places.. people who were in higher buildings got panic stricken. They jumped from their seats and could not understand what was going on. They said, "we first time saw this type of thing (power outage) in our life."

Yesterday on Sep. 22nd 99 American senate released the final report of Y2K. Here are the glimpses of that report... The world won't end on Jan. 1 with a Y2K-related computer crash, but Americans should be ready for short-term disruptions ranging from higher gas prices to local power outages, a Senate panel said Wednesday. With 100 days left before computers run up against the year 2000 date, federal agencies and the national infrastructure are in solid shape, but seven states remain in the ``danger zone'' with less than 70 percent of computer systems ready, the Y2K panel said in its final report.

The report gave its top five stars to the financial services industry for having the lowest risk of Y2K-related failures, and four stars to the utilities and telecommunications sectors. Getting its worst two-star ratings were the health care industry and the Y2K situation outside the United States.

The bottom line, he said, is that ``there will be some glitches, and nobody is guaranteeing perfection even in the sectors.''

Oh, yes things are moving rapidly and soon we are going to face the new millennium. My question is not that whether you are ready to enter in this new millennium, but my question is how you intent to enter in this new millennium with Jesus or without Jesus? You might have stock piled for 1 year or more, your refrigerator may be full of goodies and still you may be full of worry and anxiety, thinking what will happen tomorrow? Invite Jesus in your life, the prince of Peace... He will take away all your worry, all your anxiety and give you peace that this world can not give. Whether you are prepared for Y2K or not, if you enter in this new millennium with Jesus, He will take care of you.

THE GOD WHO CHANGES OUR CURSES INTO BLESSINGS

What is the reason of curse? Many times when bad things happen, people say, "Oh, he/she is a cursed person." Let us quickly look at some of the reasons of curse:

1. Wrong relationship and sin brings the curse:

If we read in Judges 21:18, "However, we cannot give them wives from our daughters, for the children of Israel have sworn an oath, saying, 'Cursed be the one who gives a wife to Benjamin.'"

Why did the other Israelite tribes take this type of oath? Because Benjamin (a tribe of Israel) sinned against God and the Bible says in Judges 20:6, "....because they committed lewdness and outrage in Israel." Judges 19:30 And so it was that all who saw it said, "No such deed has been done or seen from the day that the children of Israel came up from the land of Egypt until this day. Consider it, confer, and speak up!"

If you are a saved person and if you marry a wrong person or a person who is not saved, God's wrath will come and you will see curse in your family. Many times people say that there is no blessing in their family. Why? Because in your family there is no place for God, but devil is ruling in your home that's why you see no blessing, always fighting, always sicknesses, always tears... That's why Paul writes in 2 Cor 6:14-16 , "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols?"

Many people think that if they do whatever they want in any way they desire and live as they like, nothing will happen but it is not so... If you are washed with the blood of Jesus and accepted Jesus in your life as your Lord and Savior then you have no part with unbeliever and you have nothing to do with darkness, you are child of the Most High God, and you should know how to live in holiness as He is holy. In the last portion of 2 Cor. 6:16, Paul says, "For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people." If God is dwelling in your heart and in your home, how can you do the things which is not pleasing to God?

2. Rejecting God brings curse:

The Bible says in Exodus 20:3, "You shall have no other gods before Me."

It is one of the commandment which God gave to Israelites." And If we read in Deuteronomy 12:29 -31 "When the LORD your God cuts off from before you the nations which you go to dispossess, and you displace them and dwell in their land,"take heed to yourself that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, 'How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do likewise.' "You shall not worship the LORD your God in that way; for every abomination to the LORD which He hates they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods."

But what is happening today in USA? A nation who once feared Almighty God has now turned to psychics, devil worshipping, cults and occults. In USA taking the name of Jesus is a crime but at the same time they are giving training in schools on how to commit suicide (death education) and all kinds of nonsense. And we see the results of all these things - murder, broken homes, serial killings, depression, drugs, divorce and the list goes on.

Many people go to psychic and do witchcraft thinking that they are pleasing God. Even many Christians worship pagan gods and do witchcraft to come out from their problems. But they make more problems for themselves because they reject God, who created them, who is only praiseworthy and all glory belongs to God only. Many people celebrate Halloween thinking that they are driving devil out of their houses but how can any one drove devil out of their houses when they put all the images of devil and other stuffs in their houses? The Bible says in Exodus 23:13, "And in all that I have said to you, be circumspect and make no mention of the name of other gods, nor let it be heard from your mouth."

Oh, yes, because we forgot the laws of God, we see misery and brokenness in this whole country.

But the question is how can we come out of this curse?

1. By Repentance:

The Bible says in Jeremiah 25:5 - 6, "They said, 'Repent now everyone of his evil way and his evil doings, and dwell in the land that the LORD has given to you and your fathers forever and ever. 'Do not go after other gods to serve them and worship them, and do not provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands; and I will not harm you.'

And also King Solomon prayed in his prayer when he made a temple for God that "yet when they come to themselves... and repent, and make supplication to You in the land of those who took them captive, saying, 'We have sinned and done wrong, we have committed wickedness'; "and when they return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies who led them away captive, and pray to You toward their land which You gave to their fathers, the city which You have chosen and the temple which I have built for Your name: "then hear in heaven Your dwelling place their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause, "and forgive Your people who have sinned against You, and all their transgressions which they have transgressed against You; and grant them compassion before those who took them captive, that they may have compassion on them." (1 King 8:47 - 50)

Yes, If you repent from your sins and turn back to the Lord God who is your creator then He will heal the land and restore your life and your family. You will see blessings after blessings in your life. He will turn all your curses into blessings and wipe away all your tears.

Praise Him…

You know God works in wonderful ways.... this past month has been one of the hardest months in my life... I know I'm young but still, I wasn't sure on how to handle everything.... this morning I had cast all my cares upon the Lord, and I had a great day... I got online tonight to check my email and you had written about is what I was basically dealing with.... I notice in life we tend to try to do things own our own care our own load... but we don't need to the Lord will take it for us cuz as you said he cares...

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 9th Sep. 2008

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 9th Sep. 2008

Printed Version of the Magazine
