Rev 6:12-14, "I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place."

A couple of years back one atheist told me that Bible is "laughable" because the things written in the Bible is in no way possible. For example the above verse says that just because of an earthquake, sun became black and moon became like blood. The Atheist said, "God did not even know that sun and moon are far away from earth so that it is not possible." He also said, "Stars cannot fall like figs on the earth. because they are not only far away from earth but also very big in size." But not only the Bible but also scientists believe today that it could be possible. There was an article in scienceblog.com titled, "Evidence of earth-shaking asteroid strike published" published by Louisiana State University in Aug. 2002. You can find this article at http://www.scienceblog.com/community/older/2002/E/20023422.html

I
do not know how much fact is in this article but it tells us that because a meteor hit the earth great devastation took place in the past. The article says, "First a hot steam of molten rock and water would have withered most life, then the massively destructive tsunamis would have destroyed even more. After that, years of incredibly cold winters, caused by particles in the atmosphere blocking out the sun, would have conspired to kill nearly everything else."

When Tsunami hit in Dec. 2004 in Asia, no one had any idea how these types of things could take place. Many who were eye witnesses of that event said, "everyone around were wondering from where those giant waves are coming or from where this much water is coming." But before they could understand anything, it swept them away. Not only that but some of the islands were moved from its place by about 30-60 feet and according to the Los Angeles Times, the Island of Sumatra was moved out of its place by about 100 feet.

Bible has recorded all these events many hundreds and even thousands of years ago and how sad it is that these things are laughable to people. Of course we do not know how exactly these things will happen? Darkness of sun and moon could happen because of earthly atmospheric conditions or just as I said in my editorial in the issue of 13th Jan 2005 http://insearchofpeace.com/8v26issue.htm But today many things are happening as it is written in the Bible. All these things indicate that the coming of our Lord is very near. Joel writes of the urgency of God's warning to reach every person as we read in Joel 2:1-2 Blow the trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; For the day of the LORD is coming, For it is at hand: A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness, Like the morning clouds spread over the mountains. A people come, great and strong, The like of whom has never been; Nor will there ever be any such after them, Even for many successive generations."

Today you have a choice whether to repent from your sins and turn to God or to face the judgment of God - the day of reckoning of the terrible consequences of your sin. What would you choose?

God's Faithfulness and Human Failure

By Vinod Isaac

Deu 2:36 "From Aroer, which is on the bank of the River Arnon, and from the city that is in the ravine, as far as Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us; the LORD our God delivered all to us."

Deuteronomy is kind of Moses' farewell speech. It is almost at the end of his ministry and at a time when he was handing down the power and authority to Joshua. Moses is trying to summarize the events of the past and is giving advice to the congregation for the future.

He is trying to let the people to remember that something that looked impossible has already been done. 40 years back God had told the Israelites that He is going to give the land of milk and honey and that He is going to defeat the enemies.

12 people went to spy the land that they were supposed to capture and returned back saying that the land is indeed great and is exactly like God spoke but we don't have capacity to capture the land. A group of people who saw the giants of the land of Cannon and were so afraid that they were not even willing to give it a try.

So God made them wander in the wilderness for 40 years and they had to fight with a few nations for their own survival. Moses is referring to these nations and says that there was not one city too strong for them and that Lord delivered all those cities in their hand. Isn't it amazing that when God said that He is going to give the land, why it was impossible for them to believe? And when the Israelites are looking back they are looking back with amazement that God had really delivered those cities in their hands.

It shows very clearly that God is faithful and all things are possible if a person or a group of people is willing to walk in the ways of the Lord. My dear friend, you may be thinking that you don't have ability to do what God has asked you to do. It is possible that you may be thinking that the task is very heavy that you can't do it. Remember that it is not you who is going to bring to pass the promises of God. What God has spoken, He himself brings it to pass.

Has God spoken something to you and you are thinking that it did not come to pass the way it should have? Has God spoken to you and you think that a lot of time has gone by and nothing seems to happen? Moses might have thought in the same way. We can see Moses getting frustrated a few times. We can see that people were rising against Moses saying exactly the same things that the prophecies didn't come to pass. They said, "You have not brought us to the land flowing with milk and honey. You have brought us out to become prince over us."

Num 16:12 And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, but they said, "We will not come up!
Num 16:13 "Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, that you should keep acting like a prince over us?
Num 16:14 "Moreover you have not brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you put out the eyes of these men? We will not come up!"

It must have been terribly frustrating to Moses. As time passed by God fulfilled His promises and now in Deu 2:36 Moses is able to say that the enemies who were looking so great and unconquerable have been conquered.

Let me draw your attention to the other side of the thinking of the people. Who are the people whom Israelites conquered? Were they not the residents of that land from centuries? Was it not their land? Then who are the Israelites and why should they capture that land?

Well God declared it time and again that everything in the world is His property and He has authority to give the land to whomever He chooses. When the Israelites journeyed and were approaching these nations, these nations had already heard that God had parted red sea into two. They had heard that God had helped the Israelites. Even after knowing all these, they rebelled against Israel. Result was their destruction. How many times people today do exactly the same thing and face the consequences?

Every body does whatever seems good to them. No one cares about what God wants from his or her lives. That is exactly what Paul says in Rom 3:10-12

Rom 3:10 As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one;
Rom 3:11 There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God.
Rom 3:12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one."

If the people of the land of Cannon had sought the face of the Lord and had done what was the right thing to do then perhaps they would not have been wiped out. They knew that God of the Israelites is the mighty God. Yet they didn't know how to please Him. Today many of the people do know that there is a God and He is for real. Many even know that He is the mighty God and yet they don't know how to live a righteous life before Him.

Paul further talks in Rom 3:23 "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." That means you and I and every one has sinned and we are in desperate need of a savior. That savior is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. He shed His precious blood on Calvary's cross for you and me. He and He alone is able to redeem us from our sins. And Paul says in Rom 3:24 that this redemption is absolutely free of cost.

Rom 3:24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

If you have not experienced this redemption yet, today is the day you can have it. You will never know when it will be too late for you. This is the opportunity that you have, to set your life straight with the Son of the Living God. It is always better to do it before His wrath kindles.

Psa 2:12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.

"Blessed are those who put their trust in Him." Do you want to put your trust on Him today? If yes, pray this prayer.

Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against you. Lord, I confess that I am sinner. Please forgive me of my sins. Please wash me with your precious blood that you shed on Calvary's cross. Please come into my heart and be my Lord and savior. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Knowing Christ

By Sheela Isaac

1 John 3:8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

We hear many times people saying, "I believe in God that is why I go to the church, I believe in God that is why I survived during these many troubles, I believe in God that is why I am alive today." Well believing and knowing is entirely two different things. Demons also believe that Jesus is Lord but that does not mean that they are entitled for heaven. It could be possible that you believe in Christ but you might not know Him personally. It could be possible that you believe in Jesus and are a regular churchgoer but still you are lost without Christ. That is why I said believing and knowing is entirely two different things.

If you believe in Christ then your life must reflect it. Otherwise your claims are futile. Jesus said in 1 john 3:8-9, "He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning…. Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God." These verses clearly state that if you are a God’s child your life must reflect it. It means that you must lead a holy life. Further Bible says, "Whoever is born of God does not sin, and he cannot sin." How can this verse declare that a person cannot sin? The reason is that when Jesus comes to live inside a person, he/she cannot continue in sinful life style. When Jesus comes inside of a person the divine nature of Christ begins to work in the life of a person and that great transformation takes place which is described in 2 Cor 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." This transforming experience makes us righteous in the sight of God. Not only that but our old past sinful life begins to die and a new righteous more holy life begins to emerge. That is why Bible says, "old things are passed away behold all things have become new." This type of transformation is called knowing Christ. It is not just believing on something or just attending church services but it is more than that - leading a holy and righteous life. If you are a saved person your life must reflect it. It means that your life must be holy. Otherwise your claim is false and it is totally based on false claims. It is totally impossible that on one side you call yourself a child of God while on the other side you lead a nasty and filthy life style.

If you know Christ personally your life must be holy in the 3 faces:
1. Thought life
2. In Words
3. In Deeds

1. Thought Life:
Gen 6:5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Mat 15:19 "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

Thought life is the place where all the filth begins. All the planning begins in thought life whether it is good or bad. When thoughts mature it brings its fruits whether good or evil. Good thoughts yield good results while bad thoughts result in evil things. Murder, theft, adultery, covetousness, greed, envy, anger, and hatred all the things begin from thinking power. David was a righteous man but Saul was an evil man. When Saul knew that God had decided to give his kingdom to David, hatred aroused in the heart of Saul and he decided to kill David. Did Saul kill David? No he thought that he is more smart than God and he thought that he will be able to overturn the plans of God but he failed miserably. In Saul’s case we can find that all the planning began in his thought life and when it matured he decided to bring it to action.

Idle and evil thought life is very dangerous but you can subdue it by God’s power. For this first you need the divine nature of Christ, which comes only trough repentance and salvation. If you know Christ personally you can win your thought life. The second most necessary thing is that you should stay away from every kind of filth. You may think how? 1. Staying away from evil friends who can lead you into destruction. 2. Staying away from filthy and sinful TV, Internet stuff and reading materials. The things you talk about or see the whole day has the ability to control your mind and it could control your thought life too.

I was working in an office and I found that whatever the girls used to see on TV they used to talk about it in office time. They used to speak all the dirty things they used to watch. One day I asked, "Why do you watch all these filth? That is why it occupies your mind." And they admitted that it was true. Bible says run…run from filth of this world. Run from such friends too. If you are a saved person you must keep yourself clean so that you may not defile your life and may not lose heaven.

2. Words:
The thought life is closely linked with words and deeds. What you think and ponder about would come out of your mouth. Bible says that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Mat 12:34 "Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks."

Foul language:
Have you ever heard people make foul and vulgar talks? Once when I was in hostel I had to visit one of the girl’s distant relative’s house. As we were going the girl said, "my relative has one parrot it speaks very vulgar language." Well my friends and I did not give much attention to it. As soon as we entered the house, the parrot began to speak all the foul and dirty things. He greeted us with all the filthy words and began to yell at us. I was stunned to hear that because I never saw such a parrot in my lifetime. Later the girl said, "whatever the family members were speaking, yelling or fighting against each other it learned all those things and whenever some visitor comes to visit them it begins to speak all those things." How funny it was that the parrot learned all the foul language just because of the company of those people. It could happen to you. Bible says in, 1 Cor 15:33, "Do not be deceived: "Evil company corrupts good habits."

When I came to US., I joined one office. At lunchtime my supervisor used to take me with her for lunch. There few more girls used to gather around the table and they all began to chat. They used to talk all the dirty and filthy things like beach, club, drinking parties and other stuff. Since I was new in the USA, I had problem understanding English. So I probably understood only 50% of their talks. But I knew that they were speaking all the filthy things. One day one of the supervisors asked me, "you are so quite it looks you don’t like our talks, we are crazy girls." Well I thought in my heart "you are absolutely right." After 2-3 days I felt so restless and depressed being with them I prayed, "Lord I don’t want to go with these people anymore." Finally I found out the way. One day when my supervisor asked me for lunch I told her, "I do not feel hungry since I am not used to take lunch this early at 11.30A.M. I would like to go for lunch at around 1 O’ clock." So she said Ok and I got rid of them. I began to go alone and felt peace that atleast I am not hearing all those vulgar things.

If you are a believer you have to watch out for your friends whether they are good or not. These types of people could easily ruin your life. The same thing is applicable with people who always speak lies, who always talk ill about others, who always speak words with cunningness. If you go with such people you could easily catch those dirty habits. Even without your knowledge you might begin to behave like your friends.

3. Deeds:
John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. John 1:11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.

Jesus came to this world but they did not receive Him. Why? Because their works were evil. Jesus preached the Gospel but Pharisees did not accept Him why? Because they did not want the true Gospel. They rejected the life giving Gospel. Who were they? They were Pharisees, the priests of His time. That is why Jesus said about them in Mat 5:20, "For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Jesus said about them that since they rejected the true Gospel of Jesus Christ they would not be able to enter into heaven."

What about today? Today also we see the same thing don’t we? When somebody comes with true Gospel, everywhere we see opposition, rejection, and trouble, why? Because the people do not want to hear the true Gospel but they want to stay in sin, they want to make money in the name of feeding the poor and helping the poor. Judas did the same thing, he betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver and destruction could not depart from him. If you are also rejecting the true Gospel you are no better than Pharisees. And you know that every sin has its own consequences.

Wait and see what He can do for you!

By Sherly Isaac

Very often when we go through problems and when we face unpredictable things in our lives it discourages us. Sometimes we wonder how we are going to come out of all these situations? Is there any good future for us? But the Bible tells us to trust in God, wait upon Him and see what He can do for us.

He will destroy your enemies:
The Israelites came out of Egypt. Of course God delivered them with His mighty and great power showing mighty wonders in the land of Egypt but now they were in wilderness. When they looked back, they saw Pharaoh's army following them and when they looked in front of them there was the mighty sea before them. Oh, they cried out in fear, not knowing what to do. And Moses said to them in Exo 14:13, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever."

The Israelites might have thought, how it could happen? They were completely trapped and there is no way out. But once again we see the mighty power of God in action. He divided the waters of red sea and made a dry land. Where there was no way, He made a way out of it. But its not over yet. When the Israelites crossed the red sea, Egyptians also followed them in to the sea. But Bible says in Exo 14:24-26, "Now it came to pass, in the morning watch, that the LORD looked down upon the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud, and He troubled the army of the Egyptians. And He took off their chariot wheels, so that they drove them with difficulty; and the Egyptians said, "Let us flee from the face of Israel, for the LORD fights for them against the Egyptians." Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come back upon the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen."

Those who stood against the children of God were buried in the sea and as God said, the Israelites never saw them again. Today you may be facing so many problems. Enemy might have surrounded you from all direction but wait and see what He can do for you. If you look towards Him, He will not allow you to be ashamed.

He will give you victory over your enemies:
Bible tells us about those men and women who walked in the ways of God. God gave them victory over their enemies. Enemies could not stand before Moses, Joshua, David and such children of God. They were victorious in every field of their lives. God promised to Joshua in Josh 1:5, "No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you."

My dear friend, if you trust in the Lord, He will give you victory in your life. God does not want you to live a defeated life but a victorious life.

He will protect you from your enemies:
Once I read a true story. A missionary went on a mission trip. Some robbers knew about his trip and so they planned before hand to rob him and hurt him. After visiting a village he was returning to his staying place. But he lost the way and was going in the woods. It was cold and dark at night. He could not find the way. So he thought of staying in the jungle. He put his tent, prayed a prayer entrusting his life in the hands of God and went to sleep. In the mid night robbers came and looked from afar of. But to their surprise the missionary was not alone. His tent was guarded by fourteen strong men. When robbers saw it, they left because they knew that they could not harm the missionary.

Many years later, one of the robbers got saved and told the story of that night to missionary. Missionary was astounded and said that there were no guards with him. The converted robber explained that they were seven men who came to rob and harm him, but there were fourteen strong armed men who stood outside guarding his tent and so they left. Then only the missionary realized how God protected him sending His angels around his camp.

If you are walking in the ways of God, if you are a child of God, you need not to worry about your safety. God Himself will protect you and keep you safe. Just wait on Him and see what He can do for you. Just trust in Him.

He will return the enemy's plot on the enemy himself:
Haman was a wicked man who was high official in King Ahasuerus' time. He plotted to kill Queen Esther’s uncle, Mordecai and all the Jews in the land. Book of Esther tells us how God returned the evil plot of Haman on his own head. We read in Est 7:9-10, Now Harbonah, one of the eunuchs, said to the king, "Look! The gallows, fifty cubits high, which Haman made for Mordecai, who spoke good on the king's behalf, is standing at the house of Haman." Then the king said, "Hang him on it!" So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king's wrath subsided."

Today you may be facing so many enemies who are standing against you and against the work of God. But trust in the Lord and He will not allow your enemies to overcome you. He will make you victorious, He will deliver you from all your enemies and will make you happy. Just wait on Him and see what He can do for you.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
