Isa 52:7, "How beautiful upon the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who proclaims peace, Who brings glad tidings of good things, Who proclaims salvation, Who says to Zion, "Your God reigns!"These verses were spoken when Israel was under Babylonian captivity and when they were oppressed and God's name was blasphemed everyday. Isaiah says about the beautiful feet of a person who brings good news of deliverance and salvation from this captivity, who brings good tidings of good things.We all want to hear Good News. No one wants to hear bad news specially when a person is in captivity. He/she waits to hear some good news coming on his/her way. As we enter the lent season, we remember the great sacrifice of Jesus which He accomplished for the dying and lost mankind. Jesus came with the Good News of Salvation and deliverance from our sin and deliverance from the captivity of bondages of sin and addictions. Every human being is in captivity and in bondage and there is no other way to get Salvation or forgiveness of sins except through Jesus. But most of the Churches do not preach the message of salvation because it is too offensive for them, because the Good News has Jesus' name attached with it. Many Churches have just limited their activities with the performance of routine rituals, and they do not care whether people are hurting or living in sin and addictions. It is not Good News that you have to live a miserable life and feel so unfortunate. But Good News is that which will enable you to come out of a miserable life style and be triumphant over sin, addictions, sicknesses and problems. At the time of Jesus' birth angels proclaimed in Luke 2:10-11, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord."Jesus' sacrifice on the cruel cross has direct connection with the Good News. Today, a person can get salvation, deliverance and unspeakable joy because He sacrificed His life on the cruel cross on behalf of us. He took all our sin, sickness, addictions, problems on the cruel cross to give us a blessed life. And eternal life after we end our lives in this world. Are you shedding bitter tears today? Are you going through excruciating pain and sufferings today? Look to Jesus, He has already paid the price for your happiness, He has already paid the price for your well-being. He can help you.
When Rover Spirit landed on mars there was wide spread jubilation. I followed it's news every day since it is some thing of great interest to me.It was in the year 1996 when I was just starting to explore the internet for the first time. For me it was a time of learning about chat rooms and message boards. At that time, in chat rooms and message boards the topic of "finally science has proved that Bible is wrong" was the hot topic.With curiosity I followed those talks and figured out that NASA had located a rock in Antarctica and they believed (just a hypothesis nothing proved) that this rock was from Mars. In that rock they found some organic material and that led them to believe that there might have been a time when Mars had life on it's surface.From that began the discussion that if life is found in Mars that will prove that Bible is wrong. How the people got such idea is a funny misconception formed by the people that according to Bible there is life only on Earth, while there is not a single passage in Bible which would suggest that God didn't create life outside of earth or that He created life only on earth. However Bible does not get affected by the evidences of whether "there is life on Mars" or whether "there is no life on Mars".But if life is found on Mars that is definitely going to be a liability for the Scientists to explain how life originated on Mars. Evolution hypothesis says that some how the right chemicals, amino acids etc came together and something mysterious (unknown) happened and a cell came into existence. Scientists have tried to produce life from amino acids and carbohydrates etc. but so far they have failed. So far their claim of producing life is not from inanimate materials but from life itself. For example cloning is not a production of life from not living material. But in fact it needed lot of sophistication and live cells. So if they find life on Mars they will have to explain how life came into existence there. If it came on Earth by chance could the same chance happen on Mars too? That's a big question which they need to answer. If the same chance can happen on Mars, then creating life should have been much easier and should have been occurring even today. But we don't see any evidence of such things happening today. So if they find evidence of life on Mars it will be more tough for them to prove evolution hypothesis. It is already near impossible to prove that evolution occurred.Also if they find evidence that "Mars was once a warm planet" then that will prove that one day sun will be darkened as it is written in the Bible. They have already evidence of sun losing it's energy and this will be one additional evidence.Isa 13:10, "For the stars of heaven and their constellations Will not give their light; The sun will be darkened in its going forth, And the moon will not cause its light to shine. Acts 2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD. Mark 13:24 "But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;"Well some people laugh at Acts 2:20 saying that Moon does not have it's own light and if sun is going to be darkened there is no way Moon will become blood. They forget to take in account Rev 21:23 which clearly says that the Glory of God will be the light. So it is possible that in the Glory of God Moon will be seen red since it is the nearest object to the earth.Rev 21:23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.Another thing that scientist have not been able to prove so far is the big bang theory which is an hypotheses developed by seeing the expanding universe. "Universe is expanding" is true and it has been proven by red shift. It can be watched by Hubble telescope. Scientist have even measured that Moon is moving further away from earth few inches every year. And Bible does say the same thing that God is stretching the universe.Job 9:8, "He alone spreads out the heavens, And treads on the waves of the sea." Job 26:7, "He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing." Isa 40:22, "It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in." Isa 44:24, "Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, And He who formed you from the womb: "I am the LORD, who makes all things, Who stretches out the heavens all alone, Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself." Zec 12:1 The burden of the word of the LORD against Israel. Thus says the LORD, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him."But Bible doesn't say anywhere that there was a big bang ever. God stretched out the heavens and is still stretching it. That's why scientists are seeing that the universe is expanding. There is no evidence of bang having really happened. On Mars There can be some interesting observations on this front as well.Nasa selected two sites with very certain tone saying that these sites will give clues indicating whether once the surface of Mars had plenty of water. Reason was that they saw the shape of a place where water could have been held. Kind of smooth surface created by the flow or gathering of fluid.Early indications from both rover "Spirit" and "Opportunity" are that both the places selected by NASA may not have formed because of flow or gathering of water but are the result of Volcanic activity.If the surface was weathered with water after volcanic activity, the soil should have had signs of minerals generally found in water but to the surprise of scientists, Spirit sent back data saying that the soil patch examined, contained a mineral called Olivine. Olivine can't be found if the place was once full of water and if the minerals were formed because of the presence of water. So Scientists concluded that "Adirondack" rock is volcanic.After the scientists learned about Olivine I noticed a shift in their talks. Even before Opportunity could land they said that the landing site seemed to be "Hematite" rich area. And Hematite can be formed by the presence of water and also can be formed in volcanic activity.Well, "Opportunity" tested the soil, half the planet away, another surprise was that it also gave results of strong presence of Olivine there. That almost closes the chapter saying that the material found in both the places were the result of volcanic activity and not of water.Although all the indications are there that water is not found in either of the places but it is still little early to conclude. "Spirit" is grinding the rock Adirondack to see if inner structure of that rock speaks something different or not. "Opportunity" will explore some of the rich Hematite pockets for clues. It's going to be interesting to see what they find.As I said earlier, water or no water, it doesn't make a difference from Biblical point of view but other experiments and conclusions will certainly give some clues pointing to some direction. I wish scientists are honest enough to release all that information for the public.After seeing what is on Mars I can make only this conclusion.Psa 19:1-3, "The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard.How great our God is. As He created this all by just speaking and we are in awe and wonder seeing His great handy work.A thought goes from my mind that we are just a tiny dot compared to these magnificent things God created yet He loves us so much that He came down to die for us. What an amazing love.
Once I was reading the book "A divine revelation of hell" by Mary K. Baxter. When I was reading the unending sufferings and punishment of people in hell it made me very sad. I was talking to my brother about this and said, "why a person should get these types of severe punishment?" And my brother said, "Do you think that the sniper who created havoc in Washington D.C. and neighboring states by killing many innocent people should go unpunished or get a few days sentence and then come out of jail?" All those incidents flashed back in my mind, how these two individuals went on killing rampage. They fitted their gun at the rear side of their car with small hole and sitting inside they shot at people who had nothing to do with any kind of violence against them. Simple, ordinary people who went to gas stations to fill gas in their cars or those who went to shops or restaurants were among those killed. They even did not spare young school going kids. They not only terrified people living in those areas but also kept the people in other cities and towns in tension for days together. And I said, "absolutely not!" Those who did this crime should get severe punishment. Then my brother said, "True, and the same thing is with those who have sinned against God." God is righteous judge and He will not leave those unpunished who sin against Him and break the laws of God. But at the same time He is merciful and because of His great Mercy, He came down in this world to save us. He could not see us going through this severe punishment and eternal death. He came in this world taking the form of a man and went through sufferings beyond which a human being could ever go through. And finally He gave His precious life for us so that we could get forgiveness of our sins and live a holy life. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16 )" God has done everything for us to save us from eternal fire. Now it is your turn to receive His great gift of forgiveness and eternal life.You may be in a Christian family but might never have thought of receiving this free gift of God which can save your life from eternal damnation. If you want this wonderful gift of God, please pray this prayer with me:Dear Jesus, I am a sinner and I do not want to go through this punishment. As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
