We have reached to the last month of the year 2005. No matter what we might have gone through the whole year but if we look back and think about the wonderful ways of God, we will realized how marvelously He has led, provided from His rich treasures and protected us from all evil. He is a wonderful God, isn't it!This is also the most wonderful times of the year. The joy of Savior's birth is all over the place. Tasteful decorations and sweet carols of Christmas reminds us the birth of Jesus. Isaiah the prophet prophesied about 600 years prior to the birth of Jesus that what kind of person He would be which we read in Isa 9:2, "The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined." Jesus Himself said in John 8:12, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." He came in this world to take away the darkness from our lives and the black shadow of death.When my dad was in the hospital and when doctors said that, they cannot do anything more and there was no hope, I cannot explain the helplessness and hopelessness I felt in my heart. "So that's it, no human being can help us now... with all the modern technology and advanced medical equipments...", I thought? There was unspeakable helplessness. And I thought about death and the end of a person. I thought about the families who go through these type of situations everyday and great pain filled in my heart. The helpless and hopeless situation! Beyond the capability of mankind!Long ago this type of hopeless and helpless situation was created in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve sinned against God. They tried to fix the problem with the best of their ability. Bible tells us in Gen 3:7, "...and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings." But that was not the solution of getting forgiveness of sin or getting rid of their sins. Since then people are trying hard to get rid of their sins with all their ability by their good works. Yet they have failed miserably. There is no solution for our sins in the hands of 21st century modern man. Can you believe the helplessness and hopelessness of humankind? But thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ who came in this world to take away the helplessness and hopelessness. Where there was darkness and death reigning, He came to spread the light of hope and life.There is no other who can give you any hope or eternal life neither can help you in your desperation except Jesus Christ who went through all and gave His precious life for us. Because He rose from the dead, we have hope for tomorrow. Because He came out of the grave, we have hope that we can come out of our grave situations in our lives. Are you going through a terrible situation where there is no hope for you? Have you lost all your hopes? Are you feeling completely helpless? Jesus can help you in your inability. If you give your life to Jesus, He will give you eternal life and new hope for the future.
Passing Over He will Preserve you!
Isa 31:5 Like birds flying about, So will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem. Defending, He will also deliver it; Passing over, He will preserve it."Bible tells us about God's power for His children. He is a God who delights in defending, delivering and preserving His children. By passing over He will preserve or protect those who fear Him. In the book of Exodus we read about the pathetic condition of Israelites. Joseph ended up in Egypt sold by his own brothers, then his family moved from Canaan to Egypt. They started prospering in this new land. But four hundred and thirty years later when new king came in power he forgot the good things Joseph did to Egypt. And we read in Exo 1:9-14, "And he said to his people, "Look, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we; come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and it happen, in the event of war, that they also join our enemies and fight against us, and so go up out of the land." Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh supply cities, Pithom and Raamses. But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were in dread of the children of Israel. So the Egyptians made the children of Israel serve with rigor. And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage; in mortar, in brick, and in all manner of service in the field. All their service in which they made them serve was with rigor."So the lives of Israelites became very bitter and difficult and they cried out to God for help. When God heard the desperate cry of Israelites He moved with compassion. Bible further tells us that God sent Moses to deliver them from their misery and pain. We can see the love and compassion of God for His children. He delights in delivering His people. But when Moses came and told the plan of God to Pharaoh, he was not ready to allow them to go. He tried with all his might to stop them from going. But God sent plagues in the land of Egypt still Pharaoh did not learn lessons. Some people do not learn lesson from past mishaps but they stay stubborn. Pharaoh was one of them. No matter what came on his way, he was adamant on his will and plan to keep nagging the Israelites. It might have been a great insult for the powerful king thinking that people who were mere bounded laborers could raise their heads and demand to leave the country. Finally Lord said, "this guy is not going to listen like this, let me teach him a good lesson." And God gave instruction to Moses that every family should take a lamb and kill that lamb according to the prescribed method in the Bible and they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it. God also told them how to eat that lamb. Further God said "And thus you shall eat it: with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. So you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord's Passover. For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. (Exo 12:11-13)"So that night God passed through the land of Egypt and punished those who stood against Him and His will. But when he saw the blood, He passed over them; and the plague did not come on them to destroy them when He struck the land of Egypt. God preserved them by passing over Israelites but the same time He punished Egyptians. When Egyptians were burying their dead and mourning for their loved ones, Israelites remained unaffected by all these tragedies. What was the reason? The key was the blood of the Lamb on the doorposts and lentils. Have you taken the blood of the lamb on the doorposts of your heart? If not, you are in danger of being destroyed. But if you have taken the blood of the Lamb, He will not only pass over you but also preserve you and deliver you. Jesus is that Passover lamb who can protect you, defend you and preserve you from eternal destruction. Come to Jesus and give your life to Him. He is your eternal security.
Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 14th July. 2009
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 14th Jul. 2009
