Last week was very emotional for us. More than two months back my dad started collecting fluid in his stomach. Doctors did all kinds of tests and biopsies but all the results came out negative. He had to go through a surgical procedure for biopsy on Monday 26th Sep. As he was very weak doctors were worried about the surgery. His blood was thin so in order to prepare him for biopsy they kept him in the hospital on Sunday. On Sunday as there was a congregational meeting and a committee meeting in the church I and my sister stayed home thinking that it would be too long to stay in the church. Little did we know that some of the people came prepared to bring a resolution to stop the newsletter once and for all. The reason was they thought that the messages were very offensive for them though some of the stories were not written about them. As we are going through darkest hour of our life we felt very sad. In the evening my dad's condition worsened and it seemed to us that he was slipping away from us. He tried to tell something but half of his words were not understandable. It took more than three hours of rebuking devil, praising God and claiming the promises of God for him to make him normal again. On Monday afternoon he had surgery. In the afternoon my brother came back home from the hospital and told us that we need more prayers for him. We started praying and also we called in the Jesus Calls prayer tower for prayers. A great peace filled our souls and we all felt as if our prayers have been answered. The surgery was successful and he was doing fine in the evening when we went to meet him. Next day morning he started vomiting and was feeling very sick. But the condition improved later. He is still very weak. Please keep him in your prayers.Once Stephen a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit was preaching and by hearing his preaching people got very annoyed as we read in, Acts 7:54, "When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth." But Stephen chose to die instead of choosing to change his message. Very often Jesus spoke boldly to people about their sins and because of that many tried to kill Him but Jesus never changed His message. He spoke plainly and bluntly that they need to repent. Paul did the same thing. He was beaten up, thrown into jail, stoned and was persecuted because he preached the truth about our sinful nature and redemption through Christ. He chose to suffer instead of changing his message of truth. That's what happens when we love God. When you love God, you know that every person is heading to hell fire and every person needs to repent from sins so that hell fire could be avoided. Jesus came for the very purpose to give us eternal life. No matter what sin we might have committed, Jesus can forgive and can give us new life. Ezekiel pleaded with people in Ezek 18:30-31, "Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways," says the Lord GOD. "Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. Cast away from you all the transgressions, which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel?"
Earth is in Trouble
Last week I was watching news and there was a report and analysis about global warming. In the past 35 years climate has changed rapidly. According to the report 1/3 rd of the ice in the arctic region has gone in these 35 years. Because of that sea level is rising. At the end of this century sea level would be 12" higher than today. Because of global warming hurricanes are frequent and giant. ABC news reported, "Such changes have also contributed to falling ice coverage in the Arctic Sea, with spring and summer melting happening 17 days earlier than usual, according to the satellite study. " One other report says, "Just since 1989, one-third of the area has disappeared. Thompson, a professor of geology at Ohio State University, thinks the ice cap will be gone within a decade or two."There are also reports of sixty death in Asia because of bird flu. As the flu season approaching in America scientists are worried because there is no known vaccine or medicine available for this disease. According to the ABC news, "On Thursday, Dr. David Nabarro the new U.N. coordinator for avian and human influenza warned that the "range of deaths could be anything between 5 and 150 million" from a new pandemic."Famine, violence, water scarcity, fuel shortage and other problems have become more frequent in these days. The earth is in great trouble. But the Bible tells us in Isa 26:3, "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You." Are you going through terrible problems today? It may be sicknesses, it may be financial problems, it may be heartbreaking sorrows and pain but if you trust in God, He will keep you in perfect peace. He gives the peace that world cannot give. You can see trouble and heartbreaks around you but in those troubles you can stay in His perfect peace. He gives this type of peace to His children who are washed by His blood. If you are troubled today in your heart, come to Jesus who is lovingly calling, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Mat 11:28) Jesus is ready to give you rest in this troubled world. He is ready to wipe away your tears and lift your burdens from your heart. He will fill your heart with His divine peace.
Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 9th Mar. 2010
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 9th Mar. 2010
