Isaiah 9:6, "For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."Isaiah prophesied about the coming Messiah of what He would be like and one of the things he spoke about the Messiah was that He would be the "Prince of Peace". Last week was a violent week in Iraq and in Israel. Many were killed and many were injured. Many young and old lives were snatched away by the cruel hands of terrorism and violence. Few days back it seemed that everything is peaceful and good but then again bombing, terror, violence and killing started. Sometimes it seems that there is no solution for all these things. But very often we forget that unless we go through the proper channel we cannot have peace. If we really want peace, we should go to the source of peace - the Prince of Peace. We cannot have peace by rejecting the Prince of Peace - Jesus Christ.If you go to an apple garden and look for mangos, you cannot find it. If you are puzzled thinking why there is no mango in the apple tree and if you ask the gardener why, I am sure he will roll over and laugh very hard. Why? Because mangos will be found in a mango tree and you are looking for it in the wrong place. The same thing is happening in peace plans. Many have tried to bring peace in the troubled world but they could not succeed. They want peace but they do not want to go to the proper source. Most of them who take initiative for the peace process do not want to acknowledge that Jesus is the only source of peace and they do not want to go to Jesus for a solution. Mr. P. N. Benjamin who calls himself to be a practicing Christian has this to say, "The main concern of my ‘witnessing through journalism' for the past three decades or more, has been to challenge the ‘born-again evangelists and breast-beating missionaries to become deeply self-aware of the imperfection of their work and to deconstruct patterns of ignorance and arrogance that have done immense damage to the cause of Christ in India."Can you visualize what this person is witnessing? A man who hates the words of Christ and true evangelism, witnessing about Christ? Impossible!! This is the same person who claimed that, "Jesus is arrogant when He says that He is the only Prince of Peace." He recently wrote the report of a peace conference like this, 'Prof. Ramaswamy highlighted Hindu contribution to the idea of world peace. “For learning from every religion, we should have an understanding of the essentials and ideals of every religion. This can be the starting point for fostering harmony”.'From all these one can understand what type of practicing Christian he is who is trying to bring peace by learning from all religions. Despite all these he is unable to comprehend that Jesus Christ is the only "Prince of Peace" who can bring peace among people. He simply rejects the claim of Jesus Christ saying that it is arrogance. And why terrorists are committing this type of violence? The reason is very simple because they have rejected the almighty God - Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. Yes, my friend, you need to know the creator more than any religion for your peace, for the peace of your community and for the peace of this world. Unless you allow Prince of Peace to come into your life, there would be no peace.
To take away our Reproach
Josh 5:8-9, "So it was, when they had finished circumcising all the people, that they stayed in their places in the camp till they were healed. Then the LORD said to Joshua, "This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you." Therefore the name of the place is called Gilgal to this day."We read in the 5th chapter of Joshua from 1st verse that God told Joshua to circumcise all the young men who were born in the wilderness after they left Egypt. And when Joshua did it the Lord said to Joshua, "This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you." All the shame and reproach of wandering in the wilderness is rolled away that day when they circumcised their young men. Forty years of reproach has been rolled away. He took away the shame and reproach they went through of not reaching the Promised Land. Why God rolled away their reproach? What was the reason for it?We read in the book of Genesis 17th chapter that God made a covenant with Abraham saying, "This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised." And God also told him that this would be an everlasting covenant between God and Abraham and his descendants. Everlasting Covenants made by God by the shedding of blood. Bible also tells us that there is no remission of sin without the shedding of blood. Yes, there is no other way for our sins to be forgiven except through the blood. That's why Jesus came in this world and shed His precious blood so that our shame and reproach could be rolled away from us. And we could live a holy life.Circumcision was a symbol of God's covenant of putting away sin and evil. It was a symbol of making themselves holy and pure before God. Moses said in Deu 10:16, "Therefore circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and be stiff-necked no longer." And also in Jer 4:4, "Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, And take away the foreskins of your hearts, You men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, Lest My fury come forth like fire, And burn so that no one can quench it, Because of the evil of your doings." You may be living in reproach, shame and guilt of your sins. You may be in great trouble and may be seeing no way ahead of you. God wants to take away your reproach from your life. If you give your life to Jesus, if you humble yourself before God and repent from your sins, He will certainly help you. Just like He rolled away the reproach of Israelites from their lives within a few days. He will do the same thing for you. The Bible says in Psalms 34:5, "They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed." Will you look to Him today?
The "Pray for America" Conference

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 9th Dec. 2008
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 11th Nov. 2008
