2 Peter 3:3-4, "knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation."2 Timothy 3:1-5, "But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!Bible gives a vivid picture of last days. And we can see these types of people more and more among us, in our communities, in our cities and even in our churches. Many churches have drifted away from the basic teachings of the Bible. Many have Christian names and so called Christian Churches but they do not teach the teachings of Christ nor walk in the ways of Christ. Bible says in Acts 11:26 that, "the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch." Do our churches and church members follow Christ as disciples followed Him in 1st century? In most of the cases answer is - no. We have modernized our churches and rituals. We do not have any problem if pastors or members mix the worldly thinking with Christian life style.There are many Churches who conduct and give permission of gay and lesbian marriages that is an abomination before God. Our churches allow pagan dances in our churches. Intoxicated drinks are becoming sign or symbol of high society in Christian circle. Many do not have interest in knowing God even pastors do not have interest telling about God. They are busy making money and not at all bothering about people whether they live or die. This is what our Christianity is today. Once I attended a Christian conference. They had some spare time so they arranged cultural program. In that one father sang a love song from a movie with his teenager daughter. I just could not believe that a father can sing this type of song with his daughter. These are the pictures of our churches today. Even some Bible versions like NIV have changed few terms like 'leprosy' to 'skin disease' in the name of 'offensive words'. And in the TNIV (Today's New International Version) they have changed gender in some passages like: if there was word 'brother' they changed it to 'brother or sister'(luke 17:3), and 'father's house' was changed to 'parent's home', in (Acts 7:20) and where there was 'men grew' they changed it to 'believers grew' in (Acts 4:4). Why they changed the gender? The simple reason is to show that women have equal status in the Bible. Of course women have equal status but it does not need any emphasis. This is where Christianity stands today. Bible says, these type of people will come in last days so that they may deceive even those who are walking in the ways of God. Yes, these are last days and we have to be very careful about our surroundings and environment. Whom we are hanging out with, whom we are listening to etc. so that no one can deceive us. And if you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior then you must invite Him in your life and start living a life according to the will of God. Read the Bible everyday, pray everyday so that you may stand in the temptations of the world. Jesus is coming soon to take His bride and the Bible says, those who will endure till the end will be saved.
When last time Iraq invaded Kuwait and war broke out. I was in Bhopal CNI Church (Church of North India). Our youth team had just returned from a conference in Ratlam. Just before going to the conference I was studying the life of Paul and to get a better understanding I looked in the Open Bible index. Figured out many things about Paul. To my surprise in Ratlam conference question came up about Paul. I listed all about Paul to them that I had studied. So my church youth leaders gave me a new nickname "Paul" because they got the impression that I know everything about Paul. It was one Sunday morning we were in youth meeting. Discussion broke out about Iraq. They said to me in a funny tone "Paul" now tell us if you know anything about Iraq war from Bible. I journeyed them through Isaiah 13th chapter. Isa 13:1-5 (1) The burden against Babylon which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw. (2) "Lift up a banner on the high mountain, Raise your voice to them; Wave your hand, that they may enter the gates of the nobles. (3) I have commanded My sanctified ones; I have also called My mighty ones for My anger; Those who rejoice in My exaltation." (4) The noise of a multitude in the mountains, Like that of many people! A tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together! The LORD of hosts musters The army for battle. (5) They come from a far country, from the end of heaven; The LORD and His weapons of indignation, to destroy the whole land. (6) Wail, for the day of the LORD is at hand! It will come as destruction from the Almighty.I told them yes it is in Bible that nations will gather together against Babylon. And this Babylon is Iraq. The old city of Babel or tower of Babel we read in Genesis Chapter 11 is the same city of Babylon. It is just Iraq 9 miles away from Baghdad the capital of Iraq. Sadam Hussain spent 2.5 billion dollars to rebuild this city. In this city the remains of the first tower of Babel are still in existence. Isaiah says that nations will gather together. They will make war against Babylon. In the same way the nations gathered together they fought. I told them because Isaiah 13:6 says that in Last days or in the day of the Lord Babylon will be totally destroyed. This war is not going to destroy Iraq completely. They asked how it is possible when nations are going to gather together. When US and Britain's sophisticated weapons are going to be used. It is highly impossible that anything is still left in Iraq. I said to them when God says some thing there is nothing in the world that can change it.First war ended without Iraq being destroyed completely. Now we are hearing again of war. Is this going to be end of Iraq? Answer is again no it is not. Because Iraq's destruction is only after Antichrist is in power. Now we are going to quickly look why God is determined to destroy Iraq completely?1. They were planning to steal the Glory that is due unto God.Gen 11:4 And they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth."They said let us make a tower whose top is in the heavens. Lucifer had the same problem he said I am going to put up my thrown above the heavens. Dan 4:30 again says that Nebuchadnezzar is boasting with pride that I have built it with my mighty power and for honor of my majesty. No honor for God. No respect for God.2.) Because it is wickedIsaiah 14:4 and 5 says that It is full of riches but it is wicked. So Lord will break the staff of the wicked.Isa 14:4 that you will take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say: "How the oppressor has ceased, The golden city ceased!Isa 14:5 The LORD has broken the staff of the wicked, The scepter of the rulers;3.) It is full of Blasphemy and it is murderer of the saintsRevelation chapter 17 talks very clearly about it. Today if we look Iraq is funding the terrorists who blaspheme the name of Jesus and also kill Jews and Christians. Could John have known something like this about 2000 years back? Certainly not! But God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob knew it before hand because He knows every thing. Look at Rev 17:6 it very clearly says blood of the martyrs of "Jesus".Rev 17:3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.Rev 17:5 And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.Rev 17:6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.4.) Because it is a HarlotRev 17:5 And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.Rev 14:8 And another angel followed, saying, "Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication."Every time word Harlot is used in Bible for a nation it is used to indicate that they have turned away from the only true God as a nation. And they have embraced a foreign God or so called god that is not God. Today there are many liberal theologians who do not believe that God of Bible is the only true God. They take their congregations into Harlotry by saying all paths leads to same place. Or by saying there is some truth in other gods too. 5.) It is a dwelling place of demonsIt is full of uncleanness and demons and foul spirit.Rev 18:2 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, "Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird!What is the final fate of Babylon?Utter destruction. Without leaving even a single trace.Rev 18:21 Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, "Thus with violence the great city Babylon shall be thrown down, and shall not be found anymore.Yes my friend, prophesies of Bible are fulfilling right before our eyes. Jesus does not like uncleanness. Jesus does not like that we live in sin. It is time that we repent of our sins and turn to Him. He is calling you to take you into his kingdom. He says He is willing to make you His son or His daughter. Are you willing to turn your life into His hands? If yes pray this prayer from the bottom of your heart.Lord Jesus I know I am a sinner. I have wandered away from your ways. I have gone to other gods and tried to find peace through other means. I have sinned against you. Please forgive me of my sins. Please wash me clean. Please make me a new person today. Come into my heart. You be my Lord and Savior. I ask all these things in Jesus Name. Amen.
Gulshan, her two maidservants and her father stayed in UK for few more days as her father had to arrange air tickets to Pakistan via Jeddah. Jeddah airport is used by pilgrimage to Mecca. During these days her father went to see his friends from Pakistan community and women from their communities also visited her. But it was a matter of great shame for her as she had withered limbs with the skin turned black, wrinkled and turned loose. She was in that age when girls dream of the day when they would wear bright red dress with gold embroidery and to go to her husband's house loaded with jewels. But Gulshan had to face a lonely future behind the veil of shame as an invalid person. Her world was crumbling down as the world's best hospitals and doctors had no answer for her sickness. But now only one hope left, to visit Mecca and ask Allah to heal her.When Pakistan airline's plane landed at airstrip she felt a sense of freedom of leaving England. Sema and Salima accompanied her in her journey. Mecca is a place for about every Muslim dreams to be there at least once in their lifetime. It is obligated for every Muslim to go to Mecca as it is one of the five pillars of Islam. She sat between her two maids, Sema and Selima in first class compartment of plane. Sema acted as support for Gulshan's weak left side and Selima was ready to carry her. There were other pilgrims in that plane who wore white garment which is necessary to be worn for those who go on Hajj. She was exited and a bit afraid as she was thinking of what lay ahead. Finally plane touched down and her father's old friend came to receive them at airport. The sheik had eight wives and eighteen children who were living a big luxurious house. He was a landlord, had his own oil well and many cattle, camels, goat and sheep. He and his family lived in luxury. They enjoyed their hospitality. During the stay, Sheik gave his car and driver and they could visit the beautiful city of Jeddah before leaving to Mecca. Sheik also insisted to take his car and driver to Mecca. They left very early in the morning, after prayers so that they can also see the places on the way. Many people were going on foot in scorching heat. They did not do this because they were poor but to remember Abraham who went to the same journey.Gulshan did not say to anybody but she felt glad in her heart to be a cripple so that she had not to walk in intense heat. She knew that it was not the spirit of Hajj but Hajj requires total submission to Allah. Fifteen miles prior to Mecca signs warned them, "Restricted area Muslim only permitted." At the entry point some soldiers had guns and they were checking every person's pass. If infidel or non-Muslims wanted to enter they were killed.The progress was very slow as many people walking on foot and the narrow road climbing to hills, that was cut into the rocks. People were chanting the Quranic verses on the way to the pilgrimage. "There is no God but Allah. Mohammed is the Prophet of Allah..." They went around the hill and city then driver stopped the car and the words came out of their mouth, ""Labbayka Allahumma Labbayka!" "Here I am, at Thy service. O Allah! Here I am at Thy service; Here I am at Thy service; There is no partner unto Thee; Here I am at Thy service; to Thee the glory, the riches and the sovereignty of the world. There is no partner to Thee." Father was explaining, "Think about that, it is Muhammed's city where Muhammed preached in these streets.." They headed toward Hajj camp where some rooms were arranged for them. Father ordered two lambs for each person including maids, total eight lambs for sacrifice. He did it so that their prayers have more effectiveness with the blood of more lamb. They had two rooms with simple cots, latticed string with hair mattress. It was hard for her to sleep on those cots; particularly paralyzed left side had difficulty in turning. She longed to have her cotton filled mattresses where she could lay in comfort. But to complaint means losing the blessings so she kept silent. Laying in her cot, she could hear the sound of chanting from Quran, Allahu Akbar—"God is Most Great." She felt proud of being there so did her maids. Maids told her, "How lucky we are to be your servants, and to be on Hajj. It was really fortunate for those village girls, as many could not afford the money or time to come and visit these places. If they visited all the places it could take one month. All the people wore white dress of pilgrimage called Ihram. Father told her that, "a person who wears the Ihram, he/she left their old life and they have new life. If with this new life they die, they will go to heaven directly." Next day they had to go toKa'aba so she stayed in her room, praying, reading the Quran and in other ways preparing for next day. Muslim's believe that Ka'aba was built by Abraham and the black stone in it was delivered from heaven. As she was sick and crippled, she was performing the rituals with the help of her maids. She thought in her heart, "it is true that 14 years of your life, you lived as a cripple person but in this place where so much faith and so much prayers offered, Allah will hear prayers of your family members and Mohammed will ask Allah to heal you."Next morning they all woke up early morning. After prayers and early breakfast they were ready to go to Ka'aba - the holiest place of Muslims. Father arranged wheelchair for her so that she may be carried inside in a wheelchair. Sema and Selima walked beside her as they went inside. They entered in a big arena where great minarets and mosque were there. In the midst of that there was a huge cubed like structure built by black granite called Ka'aba - the house of Allah. Thousands of people were going around and kissing the black stone of Ka'aba. In this place she was transferred to a wooden chair which four people carry. It was a bumpy ride and it was most discomforting for her. They went three times around the cubed structure. Every time when they reached the north west side of cubed structure they shouted, "Allahu Akbar - God is great". At the last round she found herself at the black stone. Those who carried her told her that, she should kiss the black stone they lowered her wooden chair and pushed her. She leaned over and kissed the black stone, she closed her eyes and felt as in touch with the prophet. She prayed, "please heal me and heal these others." But nothing happened. Salima and Sema pulled her back and they went on their way. Her heart was broken. She kept her head down so that she may not see her father's troubled eyes. Their next stop was the prayer place of Abraham where she offered her dearest wish, "Please heal me".. but nothing happened...To be continued...
Thank you all for your prayers for my financial situation..yes I am working.. I am back in the field I was in previously.. I am working with the mentally handicapped and the mentally ill..Although the job doesn't pay much and has no benefit package it allowed me to regain some confidence in the Lord and myself. I was able to look my wife in the eye with some self esteem..
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
