Matthew 11:28, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Christmas is around the corner and this year is about to end. Many of you may look back and think, “what a blessed year for me but many will think, “oh, how hard a time it was. I shed bitter tears through out the whole year…” Many may think, “I went through terrible sicknesses and financial burdens… oh God, is there any hope for me?” Many will say, “I worked very hard but no prosperity… I studied well but got poor scores as always…would I ever see any blessings in my life?” Yes, there is hope for you, yes there is blessings and goodness for you. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”2000 years ago Jesus came to this miserable world and took birth in a manger, lived in a poor carpenter’s home. When today you go through poverty and financial problems, He understands our problems. Because He Himself went through all these problems and suffered for us so that we could come out of our problems and live a blessed life. When you shed tears, He is not smiling on you but He sheds tears with you. He understands what the weary soul is. He knows what it is to go through pain and tears. And He wants to take your burden and pain and give rest to your weary soul. Bible says in Proverbs 25:25, “As cold water to a weary soul, so is good news from a far country.” The night Jesus was born, angels came and said to the shepherds saying, “I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” The good news was preached on the day of the birth of Jesus Christ. Yes, Savior is born, now we do not need to live in bondage, sin and pain but we can get our deliverance. Jesus came to give us this wonderful life. He wants to give rest to our weary souls. You may be going through tears and pain but Jesus can deliver you from all your pain and sufferings. He came for the very same purpose to take away our weariness and to give us rest. Many a times when I went through terrible problems and when I was in tears, I saw Jesus standing with His arms opened toward me and as a small child I ran to His arms and found peace. I always pray, I do not want anything but let me put my head on Your chest and let me forget everything, let me forget what is going on around me. Today Jesus wants to take you in His mighty arms and wants to give you rest, no matter what hell is breaking loose around you.And the night Jesus was born, angels sang the beautiful song saying, “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"(Luke 2:14)One of the reasons for Jesus’ coming on this earth was to give peace to us. Many think and work hard to bring unity and peace between different types of people and different groups of people but they fail miserably. The reason is simple, unless a person makes peace with God he/she cannot have peace. The first step to have peace is to make peace with God. Adam and Eve sinned against God and broke the bridge between God and human being but Jesus came and repaired the bridge so that we are reconciled with God and have peace in our lives. This is the Christmas message that Jesus came to give - His peace and rest to humankind. Isaiah 7:14, "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”Prophet Isaiah prophesied about the birth of the Messiah by a virgin and that His name would be Immanuel. The same thing was spoken in the dream to Joseph in Matthew 1:23. Jesus’ birth was unique: He was born to a virgin. Why was it so important that He should be born like this? Bible tells us that God is holy and that there is no sin in Him. Adam and Eve who were created in the image of God were corrupted because of their sin and disobedience. And the same corrupted blood is flowing through every human being. If He wanted to correct the problem of sin and corruption it was necessary to shed holy, pure and blameless blood for the remission of the whole mankind. And by the unique birth of Jesus, His holiness was preserved so that blood is not corrupted. Many think that Jesus was an illegitimate child who was born out of wedlock. But at the time when Mary and Joseph lived, circumstances were different. At that time it was the custom to stone an adulteress woman to death. If Mary had committed adultery then she could have been stoned, but no one stoned her. And when Jesus was born and grew up in that community, He got recognition and people had good opinion about Him. Bible says in Luke 4:15, “And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.” When Jesus spoke, He spoke with authority and power and people marveled seeing His authority. When He did mighty miracles, people marveled seeing the mighty deeds. They were astonished and thought, "Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?"Not only the Bible speaks of the faultless and holy life of Jesus, but we can also see many outside evidence about Jesus’ life how He lived a holy and perfect life. Even the Quran which opposes the main message of Jesus Christ and the message of the Bible acknowledges the holiness and perfect ness of Jesus Christ in Sura 19:19. Jesus was unique Son of God:John 1:18 says, “No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.”Many question, that how God can have a Son when God did not have a wife or thinking that a supreme God does not need a Son. Let us look at the meaning of “The only begotten Son”. "The only begotten Son" in Greek is “monogenes” which means "one of a kind," "unique," "without precedent." Luke gives valid explanation in Luke 1:35 of how Jesus was Son of God, “And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.”Because Jesus was born by the mighty power of the Holy Spirit, He was called the “Son of God”. It was the prestigious title given to Him because of His unique birth. Yes, He is the unique Son of God who came down in the form of a man to save us from eternal damnation. Bible says that there is no other name given for our salvation except Jesus. This unique Son of God can save you from hell fire. If you want to escape death and hell fire, accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior in your life. Bible says in Psalms 2:12, “Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.” Yes, Kiss the Son so that you may not perish but have eternal life.You might have celebrated many Christmases but if you have not yet invited this unique Son of God in your life, then your celebrations are meaningless as your destination could end in sorrow and pain. But Jesus can deliver you and give you a better future.

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month.
