Mat 6:19-21 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." How correct these verses are. I have seen many people who build big mansions, a mass much wealth, but have no peace in their hearts. Always thinking, "will I lose my money…. Will I lose my home?" Some even start counting their money as soon as they get up in the morning because their eyes are on earthly treasures. In America, people have fear of cholesterol. Even if you see a skinniest person, she or he would say, "I do not eat this and that because of cholesterol." Very funny…. Whenever I meet one of my cousin, she would say, "oh, I am becoming fatter and fatter….." Yes, fear is eating up every day… But I want to tell you that as long as your eyes are on Jesus you are not going to sink or be troubled. If we read about Elijah in 1King 18th chapter, we can see that he came to Obadiah and said, "go and tell King Ahab that, "Elijah is here." And we see in 1 King 18:9-11, ‘So he said, "How have I sinned, that you are delivering your servant into the hand of Ahab, to kill me? As the LORD your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my master has not sent someone to hunt for you; and when they said, 'He is not here,' he took an oath from the kingdom or nation that they could not find you. And now you say, 'Go, tell your master, "Elijah is here"'! And further we see that Elijah did mighty miracle before all Israel. Even he could bring fire from heaven and burn the offerings. But what happened to this mighty man? We see in the next chapter that when Jezebel (Ahab’s wife) heard all the things which Elijah did, she sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time." And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and went to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, "It is enough! Now, LORD, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!" (1 King 19:2-4) Yes, as long as Elijah looked to God, he could do the mighty things, but when he heard the message of Jezebel and when his eyes turned from God to himself, he ran for his life. if we read in Matthew 14:28 - 30, we can see that when Peter saw Jesus walking on the sea water, he said, "let me come to you on the water" and Jesus said, "come" When Peter came down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!" As long as Peter’s eye was on Jesus he could walk on the water but as soon as he turned his eyes away from Jesus and looked at the wind blowing badly, he got afraid and cried out. Yes, my friend, if your eyes are on Jesus you will never get afraid, no matter how badly the storm is blowing against you or how bad things are with you. You will be able to enjoy the peace and joy of God that passes all understanding. In the last issue we read about Chandra Lila Sadhuni, how after becoming a widow she read in Hindu scriptures that if a person will go as a pilgrim to all the four pilgrimages of India which are situated in north, south, east and west side of India, then he/she could get remission of sins. But after finishing all the 4 pilgrimages, she could not get any peace or remission of sins. Also she could not find answers to her questions for which she came out from her home and went as pilgrim. Today we are going to think on an incident described in Matthew 26:6-13 and mark 14:3-9 , John 12:1-8 Here we see two people in picture one Mary and the other is Judas Iscariot. Both are present at a feast prepared at Simon's house. Mary is sister of Lazarus whom Jesus raised from dead after being dead for four days. Judas is a disciple of Jesus who would betray Jesus. Jesus was sitting at the table knowing fully well that He is just days away from the cruel cross. His disciples had now a clue of what is going to happen at the time of Passover. Here comes Mary with a jar of Alabaster oil a costly perfume, totally unaware of what she is doing, but determined to show gratitude to her master, to honor her master. She brakes the jar, pours the perfume and wipes Jesus's feet with her hair. What a way to show love to the one who changed her life, who raised her brother from dead. She knew that she will not be able to repay, for what cost she could have given to Jesus for raising her dead brother from grave? Only thing she could have was a grateful heart, love and respect. But when Judas saw this costly perfume being poured like this, for him it was not easy to swallow. And he said, Why wasting of such a costly perfume? Why this fragrance was not sold for 300 denarii and given to poor? That means the perfume's price was about a year's wage, for 1 denarii was one day's wage. Yes love for the poor and needy-but what kind of love? We read in John 12:5-6 that it was not that he cared for the poor but because he was a thief. John 12:5 "Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?" John 12:6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it. How many have the same mind set? They cry for their whole life that we need to help poor and needy but their eyes will always be on money, money and money. Love of money is root of all evil. Yes this is the love of betrayal. Mary and Judas both are present at the feast, both have seen mighty miracles from the hands of Jesus. Both have heard the wonderful words of life from the mouth of Jesus. Both had shown love but only difference is that Love of Mary was of gratitude, honor and thanksgiving but the love of Judas was of betrayal. Now we quickly see what did Jesus reply? John 12:7 But Jesus said, "Let her alone; she has kept this for the day of My burial. John 12:8 "For the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always." Jesus said, "Let her alone" or do not trouble her with your love to poor philosophy for there are more important issues that are needed to be handled in the way they should be handled. Yes, Jesus said that she has kept this (pouring of fragrance) for the day of My burial. The death on the cross and burial is of more importance than anything else. Because, Jesus came for the very same purpose. Jesus said in John 10:10, "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." Isaiah 53:4-5 says, "Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed." Yes, Jesus came into this world to give his life for us, because of sins, because of our transgressions. That is why He said in Matthew 26:10 "Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a good work for Me." She has done a good work for me by pouring the fragrant in preparation of my burial. Finally Matthew 26:13, "Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her." Wherever the gospel of Jesus's death and resurrection will be preached, where ever "there is redemption through the blood of Jesus" is preached, where ever Jesus is glorified, there the great love, gratitude and the thanks giving of the woman will also be preached. What type of love are you going to have? The love of thanks giving, gratitude or of betrayal? Whenever you hear that love for poor is everything and that there is no need of preaching the gospel know it for sure that it is nothing but the love of betrayal. Jesus came into this world to shed his blood for you and me, because He could not see us sinking in sin and shame. He died on the cross for your and my sin. He shed His precious blood so that He can buy us back with the price of His blood. He did it all for you and for me. Will you turn to Him and give your life to Him that He may cleanse you from all unrighteousness and make you whiter than snow? Please pray this prayer from the bottom of your heart. "Lord Jesus I know I am a sinner. I know you died for me on the cross for my sins. I believe that you are Christ and Savior. Please cleanse me with your blood and make me holy. I receive you as Lord of my life and my Savior. I ask this all in Jesus Name. Amen.
She said in her heart "I will torture my body for three years and would do whatever is written in Hindu scriptures. I would do whatever may be pleasing to God." So she applied bhabut (ashes) on her whole body and on her face, put sandal wood paste on her forehead, applied cow dung on her beautiful, long hairs and twisted it around her head. She wore a wooden chain on her neck and vowed saying, "In summer I will sit in sunlight upon the skin of deer between the panchagni (she kindled fire in 4 pots and placed surrounding her). Because of intense heat her sweat was flowing like streams. Then she continued to stand on one leg with folded hands before idols from night 12 0’clock till morning. She always used to pray in her heart that, "Ram, if you are a true God you should appear before me." Because she allowed her body to be tortured, people started worshipping her. In winter, she used to sit with in ice cold river water for the whole night and used to chant the names of hindu god with her wooden chain. She said, "It is horrible to think about the long nights. In my chain there were 108 beads, with one turned my chain taking the name of god with every bead I moved and with the other hand I used to keep count of how many times the chain was moved around. During the entire night I moved the chain 100 times so that I could take the name of god 10800 times. The whole night was spent thinking when morning will come. In the morning she used to come out from the water slowly because her body would have become numb and she used to roll over the land to reach before the idols. She spent the whole day time worshiping the god called Ram. But she had no peace at all. All these three years she not only tortured her body but did not take any grain or salt in her food but ate only fruits. She always prayed before idols, "If you are true god, please appear before me, do something that I may know that you are there, talk something that I may know that I made you happy, spread your hands and take my offerings from my hands… Please show me a sign… But she could not find any answer or get any sign that could give her peace and joy. Once she read about the eye of Parvati (wife of Shiva) which is said to have fallen in a pond and is shining continuously like a burning lamp. She got amazed and thought, "I will go and see with my own eyes this amazing thing and to see that she went on a long journey. When she reached the bank of the pond the pond keeper showed her a bright light at the center of the pond. She went around the pond and got amazed and thought, "is it possible?" Finally she decided to find out what this thing is? Evening came and darkness was all over there then she saw a Hindu priest going towards the light by a boat and putting oil on that burning light. When she saw all these things she felt so miserable that all her faith in her religion left her. But because scriptures say, whoever believes they get their heart’s desire, she did not stop her rituals or prayers. Then she wanted to go to Calcutta and a very rich man gave her money for purchasing ticket for the journey by ship. Because of her dirty cloths, mud filled body and face, and because she was carrying woods and earthen vessels the captain of the ship refused to take her in the ship. Then again the captain said, "If you can pay more than what others are paying then I will allow you to come into the ship. She agreed and got in the ship. On the way a big storm came, and they thought that they are going to sink. And all the Hindus started crying to Ram(hindu god) and said, "please save us". Chandra Leela was one of them. When the captain heard the noise, he came to that side and said, "be quite, you are crying out in vain". He raised his finger towards heaven and said, "God is our savior, only He can save us from this storm." Chandra Leela never heard this type of things and she never knew that there is a God who is greater than other gods whom she used to worship and worthy to be worshiped. After some time the storm ceased and it made her think about God. When three years of her vow ended she took bath in Ganges and did shave her long smeared with cowdung hairs which was not washed and combed for 3 long years and said, "I did whatever a sinner need to do and bore as many sorrows and tortures a man could bear. I bore every thing on my body but after doing all these things I could not get any peace or remission of sins", By saying this, she offered her hairs to the river Ganges." She came to Midnapur from Calcutta. A woman came to meet her and said, "I have no son and because of that my husband is going to marry another woman. Please tell me what type of prayer I could do that I may get a boy child?" Chandra Lila said, "I do not know about any prayers but I know a medicine, it is a root of a small tree. If you eat this you will get a boy child." The woman got very happy and started eating that medicinal root. After some months the woman had a boy child in her family and she gave that little kid to Chandra Lila so that she may teach him. After some time a rich man saw her sitting on the road side singing praises to gods or giving messages to people. So he called her in his house and the whole family were pleased with her. So they gave her a room to live and to put her idols. They said, "teach us from the scriptures." Here she taught from hindu scriptures to many women though her faith was lifted from these idols. But because of these women she used to do all the rituals. She became very famous among the rich families and used to spend her time in teaching the hindu scriptures. But finally she got very tired with all these things and decided to give all her idols to a poor hindu. And she did so and told her, "if you want to pray to these idols do so. I did many years with sorrow and torturing my body, but in my knowledge, I did all these things in vain. I am not going to serve these things any more. Hindu religion is nothing. If it is something then it would have been manifested on me and I could have got peace". Saying this she left that place.To be continued…..
When I was praying God gave me this message. This is a very serious subject. Many times we see people talking very low about God's anointed. Very often we forget that God is a consuming fire. Often times I see people trying to destroy somebody's ministry because of jealously or what ever the reason may be. But they very often forget that they are not going against that particular person, but they are against the Lord himself who gave that ministry. Bible says that whoever oppressed God's people faced the consequences. God never spared those who persecuted God's people. Exodus 1:12, "But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were in dread of the children of Israel". Egyptians persecuted Israelites who were God's people. And the result is before us. God destroyed them in the red sea. Again in judges we read about Jabin and his army commander Sisera who oppressed God's people for 20 long years. He was such a mighty man who had 900 chariots and a large army. Judges 4:3, "And the children of Israel cried out to the LORD; for Jabin had nine hundred chariots of iron, and for twenty years he harshly oppressed the children of Israel". But what was the consequence? He was killed by a woman. Judges 4:21, "Then Jael, Heber's wife, took a tent peg and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple, and it went down into the ground; for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died". How pathetic was his end. Why? God never spares a person who stands against God's people.Now the question is who are God's people? 1. Person who is Saved 2. Who is anointed by the Holy Spirit These are the two category of people who are God's people. Many think "I am in a Christian family, I am having Church membership, I am attend Church regularly. I am taking Holy Communion regularly. So I am a godly person or I've a place in heaven". No sir!!! you are absolutely wrong. Bible does not say that a person who is having a Christian name, will inherit the kingdom of God. But Bible says that a person who is having new birth experience (Spiritual birth or born again experience, John 3:3), or a person who has received forgiveness of sins by the shed blood of Jesus Christ (John 1:12, 1John 1:7), will inherit the kingdom of God. And anointing comes only after salvation. Unsaved person or a sinner can not have Holy Spirit.Ok let's go to the main points:1. Be careful when you talk about a man of God: Many times people start talking very casually about preachers and their ministry, but they never think what will be the consequences of these talks. Once I was talking to a person. He told very badly about some preachers. He said "So and so preacher is a liar. That another man he is also like that and so on". I told him, look do not talk this way. It may bring God's judgement upon you". Any way later I prayed for him many times asking God, "Lord forgive him, he innocently talked these things, please do not destroy his life". Many of you may be in this same situation. Any way I have a great respect for these men of God because they are doing the right things according to Bible. Respect those who are biblically accurate, who are working hard for God and for the expansion of His kingdom. As I wrote in previous 2 issues we went through terrible storm in 1992. We prayed several times in distress, "Lord what to do? Can we go to our native place that is south India (we were in north India at that time) to save ourselves? Can we report in police station saying that our lives are in danger?" Lord said NO, "vengeance belongs to me I will take vengeance". These verses, Hebrews 10:30, Romans 12:19 says, "Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord". Lord said one day, " I will repay back, the people who humiliated you unnecessarily ". And it came to pass on those who were responsible for all these things within one year time. 3-4 people died due to heart attack. 8-10 who were aged between 35-50 went for bypass surgery, 2-3 got mysterious sickness of vomiting blood, 2-3 got paralysis and so on Any way I am not writing to say that we are something great. No certainly not!! I do not know why God told me to write these things. I am telling this with most humbleness. Many times I think, "why they did this to us and they came to this destruction in vain". My heart goes for those people. We read in Bible about King Saul who was trying to kill David. On number of occasions David got a chance to kill his enemy king Saul, but David said, "I will never raise my hand against God's anointed". Though king Saul lost his anointing by that time and God left him, but still David did not dare to kill him. Instead of that Saul tried to kill God's anointed man David-a man who was according to God's own heart. What was the consequence? Saul fell on his own sword and died a miserable death. Saul committed suicide and lost his place in heaven. Miriam talked against her own brother Moses who was God's anointed and got leprosy. God is not a respecter of persons. When God called us for ministry in the year1984 Lord said the same thing. "Never speak against my servants. I'll never tolerate it They may be doing very little or big ministry but never speak against them". Yes, we have to be very careful in this thing. Many times people speak in a kidding way, but it brings disaster in their lives. Think twice before you open your mouth to speak against God's anointed. If not it will cut you in pieces and destroy your life. It will bring fire from God, because God is a consuming fire. If you are trying to destroy somebody's ministry stop it. If you are spreading false things about a ministry shut your mouth before destruction comes upon you. 2. Be careful when you talk about Holy Spirit and tongues: There are many who do not know how to respect God's word. They are always looking toward their Church doctrine, a man made doctrine which some body made it. Many times I hear people say very easily, "I do not believe in Holy Spirit, I do not believe in tongues". When I was in India one Church conducted a convention. They said to the preacher (main speaker), "look you have come to preach in our Church, that's Ok but remember, you are not going to speak about Holy Spirit, tongues and you can not give alter call also". Strange!!! isn't it? What kind of a Church is it which does not believe in the things which are in the Bible. Again once a person told me "I saw many girls who were in hostel. They used to speak in tongues, but there lives do not look good to me. So I do not believe in this. I think they are blabbering some thing. she further said "if some big preacher says that he/she speaks in tongue I can believe it but not that which I saw". The person who told these things was not saved. If a person does not know what it is to get saved or spirit filled, how can he/she give a right opinion? Any way the bottom line is, if you do not know the things of God, it is better to keep your mouth shut. Do not talk against God's word and bring curse into your life. Bible says very clearly that when Holy Spirit came upon them, when they got anointing of the Holy Spirit, they spoke in different languages or tongues. So who are we to say, "it is nothing but blabbering something, it does not happen". Mathew 12:32, "Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come".Let us pray: Lord Jesus I confess that many times I spoke the things which was not right. I did it because of lack of knowledge. Please forgive me. I do not want to bring curse into my life. Please help me so that from now on I never speak against your word or against your servants. Please give me the grace to do your perfect will and to obey you in every way. I pray this prayer in Jesus name Amen.
To all who have been praying for me during my cancer surgery. I want to thank the Lord and all my brother and sisters in the Lord for their support. I am recovering from my surgery at this time. The cancer was contained in the prostate and there was no signs of cancer any other place in my body. Therefore I do not have to go through kemo or radiation. PRAISE GOD! Again thank you, Wayne
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month.
