We have entered in the New Year. Year 2008 was not a good year for many. Still many are worried about their future as economy is in bad shape; housing and job market are stumbling. If you are caught up between these situations what would you do? Worry and worry? Probably worry is an automatic and natural factor that just hits us from nowhere. But the psalmist says in Psa 9:10, "And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You."I remember that when I was in school there were servants in our home for all domestic works. Whenever I had to go to school one of the servants would drop me off and when my classes are over he would come and pick me up. Never in my school life did a thought cross my mind whether someone will be there or not to pick me up when I would come out of my school. Because I knew with all surety that a ride would be there for me, no matter what. Likewise I never worried who will pay my school fees, who will meet the expenses for my dresses etc. It was the job of my parents to worry about. I only knew that things would automatically roll for me just because I was a daughter in the family.In the same way if you are a child of God you need not to worry unnecessarily because God has to worry for you. That is the reason why Jesus said in Mat 6:32-34, "...For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."I think that we often worry because we do not have the real understanding of what we are in Christ. If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior you are a child of God according to John 1:12-13, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."A king's child will not worry whether he will have food on the table or not, whether he will have dress to wear or not or whether he will have a house to live in or not? A prince will enjoy everything that belongs to his father the king. If you are a child of God, you are more privileged than an earthly prince. If you only recognize who you are in Christ, if you only know who you are in Christ, that will change everything. If you have invited Jesus in your life, you are not an ordinary person but you are a child of God who is the King of kings and Lord of lords. David says in Psa 23:1-2,"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters." Yes, He knows how to give best things to His children who have known His name.Once I heard a beautiful message spoken by Suresh Babu titled "you are an Eagle of God". He spoke from Deu 32:11-12, "As an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, Spreading out its wings, taking them up, Carrying them on its wings, So the LORD alone led him, And there was no foreign god with him." He beautifully explained that you are not an ordinary chicken Christian but you are an eagle who flies above in higher places because you are born in the family of God. My friend, if you only discover who you are in Christ, that will change your life. You will not worry unnecessarily but will trust in God because there is a mighty and wonderful God who never fails. He will come for your rescue. He will lead you in every step of your life.
In the Old Testament we read the story of Jacob. Jacob fled from his home because his brother sought to kill him. His mother told him to go to her brother Laban's house, to dwell there and take one of his daughters as his wife. So Jacob reached Padan Aram where Laban lived. He married Laban's daughters. When he started his new life in this new place he might have thought that his sorrowful life would soon be forgotten and everything will be going to be all right. But little did he know of the challenges that would be laid in front of him.Laban made him to work hard and changed his wages ten times and deceived him. Laban's sons also behaved badly to him and were not favorable to him. Jacob might have felt himself to be in an enemy camp. His life was not easy anymore. But in the midst of all the adversaries and beyond all odds he prospered. Gen 30:43 says, "Thus the man became exceedingly prosperous, and had large flocks, female and male servants, and camels and donkeys." The reason of his prosperity was that God was with him. Even Laban admits that because of Jacob he prospered greatly as we read in Gen 30:27, And Laban said to him, "Please stay, if I have found favor in your eyes, for I have learned by experience that the LORD has blessed me for your sake." In reply Jacob says in Gen 30:30 "For what you had before I came was little, and it has increased to a great amount; the LORD has blessed you since my coming."God was with Jacob and whatever he did, God prospered it and because of him Laban could also experience prosperity. Jacob was a shepherd who looked after Laban's flocks. And we read how Laban changed the wages of Jacob many times yet it never affected the prosperity of Jacob. We read in Gen 31:8, "If Laban said thus: 'The speckled shall be your wages,' then all the flocks bore speckled. And if he said thus: 'The streaked shall be your wages,' then all the flocks bore streaked. So God has taken away the livestock of your father and given them to me."Probably enemy could have tried to block all the possibilities of prosperity for you in the past years. You might have seen disaster after disaster and hardship. But look at the life of Jacob. God made him prosperous in the midst of chaos and turmoil in his life. Even Laban who was an unbeliever could experience prosperity because of Jacob. A mighty difference came in the finances of Laban because of Jacob who was carrying the living God's mighty presence with him. His business grew beyond measure. My friend, are you afraid of bad economy or of job loss or because of much loss in your business? I want to tell you that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will make you prosperous in the midst of those chaotic situations you are in. Those bad situations will have no affect on you. Yes, my friend, if God is with you who can stop you from prospering? You will see a complete turn around in your life, in your working place in your business and in every area of your life. If God can make evil Laban to prosper, how much more He will care about His children who walk in His ways and fear Him? The same God who made Jacob prosperous despite all odds will make you prosperous.

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month.
