Contents of this issue
In the book of Nehemiah 9th chapter we read that the children of Israel gathered and repented before God. They were remorseful for their sins. This chapter talks about the faithfulness of Abraham who walked in the ways of God and also about the faithfulness and goodness of God who blessed the Israelites because of Abraham. When the Israelites sinned against God, God punished them and they went into captivity. Their lives became miserable and they lost the blessings of God. But when they repented from their sins and turned to Him, He forgave them and blessed their lives.In this chapter the Israelites cried out before God and they were remembering about the mighty and wonderful acts God did in their lives when they came out of Egypt. Neh 9:20-25 lists some of the goodness God did in their lives, “You also gave Your good Spirit to instruct them, And did not withhold Your manna from their mouth, And gave them water for their thirst. Forty years You sustained them in the wilderness, They lacked nothing; Their clothes did not wear out And their feet did not swell. Moreover You gave them kingdoms and nations, And divided them into districts. So they took possession of the land of Sihon, The land of the king of Heshbon, And the land of Og king of Bashan. You also multiplied their children as the stars of heaven, And brought them into the land Which You had told their fathers To go in and possess. So the people went in And possessed the land; You subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, The Canaanites, And gave them into their hands, With their kings And the people of the land, That they might do with them as they wished. And they took strong cities and a rich land, And possessed houses full of all goods, Cisterns already dug, vineyards, olive groves, And fruit trees in abundance. So they ate and were filled and grew fat, And delighted themselves in Your great goodness.”Though they enjoyed this much goodness from God, yet they rebelled against Him and sinned against Him. They forgot the one true God who brought them out of Egypt to a land full of blessings. And God allowed them to go through hardship. In the 9th chapter we read the prayer of confession. Repentance and confession of sins is the first step in turning towards God. Today also if you repent from your sins and turn to God, a new beginning will come in your life. When the bondages are broken and when you are free, there would be great joy. Hardships and misery, which comes because of sin, would be gone and there would be great peace in your hearts.Second thing that the Israelites did was that they not only repented from their sins but also put the house of God in order and worshipped. Further we read in the 12th chapter how God filled them with great joy. Neh 12:43, “Also that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy; the women and the children also rejoiced, so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard afar off.”Are you in tears today because of your sins? Come back to the almighty God who forgives all our sins and forgets it. He will once again fill you with great joy.
Often I have seen people working hard to earn more money so that their lives could be comfortable and luxurious. It is true that we can achieve so many things if we have money in our pockets. If we have money and influence, we can climb the ladder of success. But how do we value the poor people? I can say that they are despised in the eyes of this world. But Bible talks about a day in which our money, our influence or any such thing will not work. That day is the “day of wrath” or the “Judgment day”. Jesus not only spoke about this day in the New Testament but we also read about it in the Old Testament. In Prov 11:4 Bible says, “Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, But righteousness delivers from death.” What exactly is this day? According to the Bible it is a day of judgment, when God will judge people according to their deeds. We read in Heb 9:27, “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,”Every person has to die one day but there awaits judgment. Still the Bible tells us that we can escape death and the judgment of God as we read in Prov 11:4,“Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, But righteousness delivers from death.” Also in Prov 11:19, “As righteousness leads to life, So he who pursues evil pursues it to his own death.”Jesus came in this world to take away all our sins and to give us righteousness. He shed His precious blood on the cruel cross so that we could come out of our sins and live a holy life. We read in Heb 9:26 He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.My friend, we do not know whether our life will end before the coming of Jesus or whether Jesus will come first but we need to be prepared to face either of these. We need to ask these basic questions. If we die today, where will we go? To heaven or hell? If Jesus comes today, are we prepared to meet Him? Are our garments washed with the precious blood of Jesus and are our garments white as snow? If not it is high time to come to Jesus. Accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior and walk in holiness, as He is holy. Because we read in Rev 21:27, “But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.”Think about it! How are you going to stand with stained and filthy dress on, in front of the holy God? Even if you go to a party with filthy dress on, will you not feel ashamed before others? Jesus said in Rev 3:17-20, “Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'; and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked; I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”Will you hear the voice of Jesus today and open the doors of your heart? He is knocking at your door.
I asked a few days ago for prayer for my friend Marcia. She had been told prior to the surgery there were cancer cells, but thanks to prayer and God's healing at the time of the surgery no cancer was found! She came through the hysterectomy and the Dr. said she will feel like a new woman in a few weeks. Praising & Thanking God. Thank You for your prayers.

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month.
