By Sherly Isaac

Once lived a dragon in a jungle. Because of his red color he was called red dragon. He was very popular and honored in his community. Every other dragon loved him because of his generosity and good behavior. Whenever he went for animal hunting, he shared with the other dragons. He was a furious and most powerful dragon. Whenever he opened his mouth fire came out of his mouth.

One day the red dragon went for hunting and he saw a man. Finally he caught that man and ate him. He felt as if he had never eaten this much tasty meat in his life. Days passed by and he had a great craving to eat human flesh again and again. So he started going near the villages in search of human beings. And he was successful in eating more people. Finally it became an addiction for him and he was looking for opportunities to eat more and more people.

Villagers also realized that people were missing but could not understand what was happening until one day someone saw the red dragon taking a boy from the village. Villagers came up with a plan to kill the dragon before he could kill more people. One day the red dragon was on his routine chore of hunting people. Villagers came with their weapons as they had planned and killed the red dragon. The addiction of his life cost him his life.

Sin also does the same thing in our lives. First it seems good and attractive but at the end it brings destruction and death in our lives. Bible tells us in Rom 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

In James 1:14-15 we read, “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.”

Today many are addicted to drugs, smoking and other addictions. Because of those addictions they are facing sicknesses that could take their lives away. Many are unable to come out of their addictions. But Jesus came in this world and gave His precious life for us so that our lives could be redeemed from all sins and addictions. He shed His precious blood on the cross to save us from our sins and the consequent hell fire.

There are many who are already saved and yet live in all their old habits. Paul says in Rom 12:1-2, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

After having been saved by the precious blood of Jesus, you need to walk everyday in His holiness. We can live a holy life by doing according to the word of God and by spending time in prayer. David says in Psa 119:9, “How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.” And in Mat 26:41 Jesus says, "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

When we do these things Jesus will help us to walk in His holiness and to lead a victorious life. He said in John 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." Just as He has overcome the world, He will help us to overcome the world. Just trust in Him.

Why Jesus is God?

By Sheela Isaac

Jesus showed all the extraordinary qualities that could qualify one as God. When we think about God what questions comes in our mind? We began to think about somebody who is supernatural, who has supernatural powers, who is holy, who has ability to control the whole universe, who is able to deliver us from all our problems, who has ability to wipe away sin, who has ability to give us holy life etc.

Let's see whether Jesus fulfils all these qualities of God?

1. Jesus was sinless (holy):
2. Jesus was overcomer
3. Jesus was all knowing (Omnipresent)
4. Jesus was Almighty (Omnipotent)
a. Jesus has power over Nature
b. Jesus has power over sickness
c. Jesus has power over demons
d. Jesus has power over death
5. Jesus is Mediator
6. Jesus is the prince of peace
7. Jesus is Savior

1. Jesus was sinless (holy):
He knew no sin. It means He was very perfect in holiness. He never committed any sin.
2 Cor 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Jesus said, be holy for I am holy. Here Jesus is not only talking about how holy He is but He is talking about the holiness His followers should have. 1 Pet 1:15-16, "but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy." Jesus is holy and He requires the same kind of holiness from us. If you want to go to heaven you need the holiness, which God has, otherwise it is totally impossible to enter in heaven. The Bible says, without holiness no one can ever see God. Heb 12:14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:"

Jesus committed no sin: Jesus showed perfect example of holiness. He never committed any sin though He suffered greatly but He showed Godly qualities.
1 Pet 2:21-23, "For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: "Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth"; who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten,.."

2. Jesus was over comer:
He overcame all the temptations. Never forget that Jesus was in human body but He never committed any sin. Why? Because He is God and He showed the great example of holiness. When Satan tempted Him in the wilderness He overcame it through the word (word of God) Mathew 4:1-11).

Mat 4:1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
Mat 4:2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.
Please read Mathew 4:1-11.

Jesus overcame sin and that is why He is able to help us out to overcome sin and sinful desires. We humans can't resist sin by our own effort but with the help of Jesus we can win victory over sin.

3. Jesus was all knowing (Omnipresent):

Jesus had extraordinary capability to know the thoughts of people.
Luke 5:21-23, "And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, "Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?" But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, "Why are you reasoning in your hearts? "Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Rise up and walk'?

Jesus did what professionals could not:
Peter and other fishermen who were in fishing job since childhood. They knew how to catch fish and where to put net but when they failed in it Jesus told them from where they can get fish. Luke 5:4-6, "When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, "Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch." But Simon answered and said to Him, "Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net." And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking."

Jesus knew why He came into this world:
Mark 9:31 For He taught His disciples and said to them, "The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him. And after He is killed, He will rise the third day." There are many references in the Bible which clearly states that Jesus knew who is going to betray Him, how He is going to die and when He is going to resurrect back to life. Scriptures clearly describes that nothing was hidden from Jesus. Jesus knew very well the purpose of His coming into this world.

All these things clearly state that Jesus is all-knowing and that He is God. He is the creator of the universe because only God can know things, which humans can't.

4. Jesus was Almighty (Omnipotent):
So far we saw how Jesus had showed extra ordinary qualities that proves beyond the shadow of doubt that Jesus is God. Let's see how powerful is He.

a). Jesus has power over nature:
The Bible says even nature obeyed the commands of Jesus. Jesus rebuked the winds and storms and they obeyed Him.
Mat 8:24-27, "And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, "Lord, save us! We are perishing!" But He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. So the men marveled, saying, "Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?"

b). Jesus has power over sickness:
Mat 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.

Throughout the New Testament we read the miracles done by Jesus. He healed the blind, lame, deaf, dumb, withered hand etc. If you read four Gospels (Mathew, Mark, Luke and John) you can read hundreds of such miracles that performed by Jesus. Jesus definitely showed the qualities of God. Only God can bring healing and deliverance.

c). Jesus has power over demons:
Demons knew who Jesus was and they knew that Jesus has full authority and power to destroy them. They knew that Jesus is the Holy one of God. Mark 1:23-25, "Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, saying, "Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are; the Holy One of God!" But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!"

The Bible says Jesus healed many who were possessed by demons.
Mat 4:24 Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.

To be continued…..

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
